"Red you ready to go yet? Our flight leaves in half and hour!" Michael called from downstairs as I finished zipping up my suitcase. Damn today was the day we finally set off to Chernobyl, and I couldn't be more excited. I was so excited last night I forgot to pack and stayed up late studying the land again. Lord my whole life I've dreamed of doing this. "Hold on a minute will ya?" I laughed as I ran downstairs with my suitcase and backpack. "Well your wasting my time and the teams. Which reminds me they are already at the airport ready to go!" Micheal laughed with a cheery smile and grabbed my bags throwing them into the cabbie parked outside while I locked up.
"I wonder what its gonna be like? Maybe different species will have adapted to their new environment adding to new possibilities of what they look and act like." I started babbling as we took off towards the airport. Michael just looked at me and laughed. He's been my best friend since the 9th grade when we met in my language class. I didn't have much friends but he was the only one who stuck up for me and understood my work. I was always fascinated with animals and the disaster of Chernobyl. Even now we graduated from the same college and work for the same company which is helping support this trip. While I was thinking we had arrived at the airport. We grabbed our stuff and ran inside hurrying our asses up. We laughed as we plopped down in our seats in the plane both of us out of breath but with a huge grin on our faces. In the background you could hear our small team laugh at us at what they just watched. "Red your crazy" Michael said to me as he buckled in "So are you Mikey boy."
Putting in my headphones and closing my eyes, I restesld my head against the cushion letting Beach Avenues some Coming your way play as I smiled drifting off to sleep.
"Red.....Red! OK you idiot wake up before I spill this nice lovely ice all over your dumbass." I could hear Michael say and not one second after I felt the most cold shower on me, making me jump up in my seat and quickly plop back down still being buckled in. "Why you fucking smart ass. I promise I'll get you next time!" I said smiling unbuckling and getting up to which more ice fell on the ground. "Well then wake up next time you stupid bloke. We are finally here!" He yelled grabbing his stuff and getting off the plane to which I followed in suit. You gotta love Mikey, though he can be a pain to deal with he was still an amazing friend. I yawned once the cool new air hit my face once I got off the plane. From here it was only a two and half hour trip to Chernobyl. By tomorrow we would be seeing the vast new land, this made me smile like a crazed man but I did not care. I couldn't wait for the new adventure a head of me, I had picked out the best of the best for my team. They were all around me and Mikey's age and very smart. I knew they were just as excited as I was for this adventure.
