Connor's POV

Darkness.
When you're used to it, it becomes your friend.
My name is Connor Franta, I'm 16 and I am living on the streets because of my sexuality. I came out to my parents a few months ago and they said they "couldn't raise a mentally challenged child". It's now 11pm and I'm looking for somewhere to sleep, anything that would make me feel at least a bit alive.

I wouldn't say I miss home. At least I'm being who I am, with no food and no home, but who cares right?
I stand up from the dirty ground I'm sitting on and start walking towards the supermarket maybe I could find a place to stay the night. I look up and I see nothing but clouds and fog. Great - I think - It's going to rain.
I feel water hitting my face as I walk, but I need to find a place to stay, so I keep walking. The supermarket was my best, and only, chance right now.

When I finally get there I look around. Nothing. It's pouring rain and there's nowhere to stay. Feels like a normal Saturday night. I take a deep breath and look around more. I see some homeless dogs sleeping and kids playing on puddles, their parents screaming at them to go inside because it's getting cold. I miss being a child, when I had no worries and my parents loved me. When I had food on the table and a roof above my head.

I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't realize the rain had stopped. I enter the supermarket and sit on a bench that is right in front of the entrance, and look into my bag. A few clothes, books, my swimming cap and goggles. Swimming was one of the things that I kept loving after being kicked out. Sometimes I would go to the public pool and swim there for hours. My worries were all gone when I was inside a swimming pool, or when I was taking pictures. I also had a Polaroid inside my bag, a gift from my parents when I was 15. I did think of throwing it away just because I was so mad at my parents, but then I realized that was just stupid.

Someone touched my shoulder. I turn around and see a tall guy with curly hair and blue eyes.

- Excuse me, could you tell me where the bathroom is? - His voice is quite, almost like he's trying to hide from someone.

- Um, I think it's on the left right there. - I say pointing to a door that says "bathroom"

- Oh, I'm sorry, how stupid of me - He smiled.
That smile.
It was one of those things that could be one of the world's seven wonders. A smile that made you think you could do anything.
I look into his eyes and there was a natural spark inside them, he almost looked too pure for this world.

- No problem, I actually couldn't figure it out for myself neither - I say while looking down. I couldn't stare at him anymore, which was a shame.

-I'm Troye, with an e at the end.
-Connor, with an o
- Well it's nice to meet you Connor with an o, I have to go now but I'll talk to you later. - He turned around and walked towards the bathroom.

What the hell was that.
It felt like one of those moments where you feel nothing, just the other person.
When everything becomes silent and the only thing you can hear is the other person.

It didn't feel real. I never felt like that and I know I can't feel like that again.

I stood up from the bench and walked away.

After hours of walking I finally found a place: a hidden garden, close to a big house. It doesn't seem like the garden belongs to someone, the flowers are almost dying and practically begging for water. It also has some trees around, which is good, I can protect myself from the rain. I sit on the wet ground covered in mud and grass and take off some of my stuff from my bag. I see 20 dollars on my front pocket, maybe I can buy something to eat later. It won't last long though.

One thing I didn't mention: I live in a pretty bad city. Everyone is violent and you can see street fights every corner you'd go. Living here is a challenge, and I don't like challenges. If I could have one wish it would be to move out.

Suddenly I hear a noise coming from the house besides me. It sounded like spanking (a/n: not the sex kind u sluts) and screaming.

- It wasn't my fault mom! Mom! Put that down, don't - I hear a crashing sound like someone threw a glass on the floor. I put my bag down and try to listen to the conversation more carefully.
- You piece of shit you lost this month's payment! You don't understand how hard it is to get that money, you're just a useless kid that doesn't understand the real world. - I hear a loud noise, but couldn't figure out what it was.
- I told you it wasn't my fucking fault mom! I'll try to get the money back I promise. - I heard the door opening.

I looked where the door was and I see him. That guy from the supermarket.
