"Hey Alice! Do you want to come to the blind date today?" her classmate, Zoe asked.

She smiled apologetically.

"Zoe I'm sorry. I can't go." she replied.

Jess looked at her sadly. Her friend, Lisa walked to Alice and gave her a dirty look.

"Stop trying to convince her. She won't come. Who knows why she is so busy. " Lisa said spitefully.

Alice almost cussed at her. Lisa didn't understand.

"Why don't you try being an older sister to a 5 year old and a 12 year old and have an alcoholic dad who doesn't do anything and earn all the money yourself? Why don't you try having a part time job at a cafe? Why don't you try having a dead mother? " she thought.

Alice was pretty sure that her life was at least 10x harder than her classmates. She was thankful that Zoe was trying to be friends with her, but she
seriously doesn't have time.

The bell rang. School was over. She quickly left her class and ran towards the art room.

Art was her life. If Alice didn't have art, life would be extremely boring. She was really happy when Mr. Watterson, the art teacher, allowed her to join the art club for free.

She ran to the door, and then sighed.
A sign hung on the door, it said: Sorry, Mr. Watterson out today, art room closed.

She glared at the wall. Why? Seriously why? As she turned back, she ran into her senior in the club, Luke.

He laughed at her scowling expression.

" You didn't know?" He asked her.

She nodded.

" I didn't have art class today. So I didn't know."She told him.

He laughed again and waved at her as she left.

She exited the school buildings and entered the primary buildings to pick up her siblings, Leo and Lizzie.

"Today Lizzie got first place in math test!" Her baby sister said cheerfully.

"Shut up Lizzie." Leo said smugly.

She smiled. If she didn't have her siblings, she probably would have ran away from home a long time ago.

Alice walked Leo and Lizzie home, and quickly changed into her cafe uniform. It was nearly her shift.

She arrived at the store.

The owner, Mr. Patts welcomed her.

"Early as always." He praised her.

He offered her some tea, which she quickly drank.

There was not many customers today, which meant that she finished quickly. She left and got home.

As usual, her dad was no where to be seen.

" That useless father. Didn't he get over that yet? Leaving your children alone again." she thought angrily. She checked the bedrooms, where Leo and Lizzie were sound asleep, did her homework and slept.

/////

It was 5.30 am, which was the usual time Alice got ready. She had to wake up early to cook for her siblings.
Omelette today.
By the time she finished. Her siblings were awake. They quickly ate breakfast and headed to school.

She entered her classroom, which was almost empty. She was normally the only one here as it was only 6.40, but a boy was sitting on the teacher's seat.

She didn't really remember this boy. Was he in her class? She didn't know. But she was sure that she had seen him somewhere.

The boy stood up and turned around to look at her.

There, she saw the most gorgeous pairs of sea green eyes that she had ever seen.

He sighed loudly, then grinned at her.

" Ya know. I didn't think there would  be anyone else here at this time. Guess I was wrong. " he said cheekily.

She was actually fascinated by this boy.

" Were you in this class before?" She asked curiously.

He grinned widely.

"Nah. I'm new. The name's Seth."

END.
