For some people life can be totally messed up. Either it gets to be worse or you're just born with this trait. Knowing the truth is surely bitter and accepting it requires strength. But God doesn't let you stay so hopeless. If one thing is absent, the other's presence probably fulfills the missing.
So is just the similar type of life given to Athene Torwood. She has accepted the bitterness of reality and the outrageous moments she's been through.
