Class was over; he waited in his seat for the majority of his class mates to leave. He never liked getting caught in that wave of children as everyone gushed through the door. He was almost last and he got up to leave heading for his next class. He noticed that the same girl from earlier was still in class. She was struggling with her schedule, examining it, reading over the same things and just looking overall confused. That totally confirmed she was new. He was never the conversation starter or the type to act like he gave a shit either. So he continued walking, not because he didn't care but something about her aura just made him feel uneasy. Not like nervousness when you're in love but the fiddling of your fingers when you felt threatened. He himself didn't understand why he felt the need to avoid her presence.
He was almost out the door when he heard a voice.
"Excuse me "he turned around slowly.
"Could you help me with this, I really don't know where my next class is "he contemplated whether he should just turn back around and walk out the room as he originally intended but that would just make him cruel. He may have looked weird wore mostly dark clothing but one thing was, he was not cruel.
"Uh yea sure "He bent over and showed her which side of the school most of her classes were. He talked with his voice low almost in a mono tone. When he was done he stepped back making way for her to leave first. It wasn't like he was being gentleman like but making her leave first was a pretty clever way in avoiding any further conversation ( no it wasn't ). She got up to leave but then stopped and turned around looking exactly into his eyes. He felt uncomfortable and began looking away flipping his hair in front his face and began to walk to the door. She walked closer to him stopping him.
"Hey I just wanted to say Thank You" she giggled and continued
"No need to run, I'm not a rapist or anything" She continued laughing. Her sense of humor was different from any other and she mostly just came off as weird. Then she hugged him. His stomach churned. Why? He thought. He sucked in a breath until she let go, His lips pressed in a thin line and his shoulders stiffen. He didn't understand anything about her. Yea he just met her today but that's exactly why he didn't understand her, who hugs a person the first time they met them, unless there like some kind of long distance internet lovers or something.
"Byeee" She said smiling almost skipping away. Her hair bouncing on her shoulders as she went. Why it is that she seems so jolly all the time, he thought. He refused to let his mind dawn on her for more than a second. People were not his concern. He had a wall that he built. He was never going to let his guard down. Trust was a word he wasn't familiar with and it wouldn't even cross his mind, not even as a thought.
It was lunch time and the usual parade of children crowded the cafeteria hall. Gabriel went to the table which he always sat. He really really wasn't a fan of change. He wasn't popular but everyone knew that was where he sat. He pulled out his lunch and was accompanied by some of his "friends" who almost immediately broke out in a loud chatter as soon as they sat. He continued eating his lunch responding with a few nods and yeas.
Genesis' Pov.
This school is like a bloody maze. At least I get a break from running around the hallways like some circus horse, but its lunch! this still isn't any better, your first lunch at a new school is the most crucial part of your high school existence. As you step foot into that café you realize, ok baby judgment day. How do you not be weird hmm I seriously got nothing. Oh well, I entered the café and as I expected everyone was seated in their separate cliques. I scoped the area, I began walking deeper into the café and it was only a matter of time that they noticed my existence, then BAM! EYEBALLS and they were all focused on me. I felt like prey just waiting to be devoured at any minute now.
Then I spotted him .The mystery guy that I hugged earlier, hmm I really need to lay off the cheetos. He probably thinks I'm weird haha but on the bright side who doesn't think I'm weird lol. Wait... new school new people gosh! this was my chance to make a really good first impression. Bummer! maybe next time.
Should I go to his table, nah maybe I shouldn't, for sure I would be branded as stalker of the year. Before I knew it I was already heading to his direction, it was becoming a bit awkward with me standing in the middle of the cafeteria.
"Hey may I have a seat here" the table was now quiet and his head shot up at me. Opps I really shouldn't of come here. Retreat! Retreat! RETREAT!
"uhhhh " was all that came out of his mouth and he was just looking deeply into his lovely carved sandwich.
"Sure babe, if he can't make up his mind I definitely want you by me" I smiled politely and sat next to the guy that offered me the seat. Hmmm the things you do when options are few. He was sitting right opposite mystery guy. I wonder what is going through that perfectly full head of hair of his. He never took his eyes of his food, his everything is just so weird, and to think people call me weird, like they obviously don't pay enough attention to mister sandwich admirer over here.
I took a moment to study him. His head never seem to face up, his head always hung low making his shiny jet black hair always cover most of his face. I think it was cool but it just made him so much more of a mystery. It's like you see him but you never really see him. His clothes reflected his mood bored and plain. Every shade of black was expressed, but what really amazed me were his eyes. Those piercing crystal blue eyes had a blue as deep as the ocean but they were as transparent as glass. That color he couldn't hide behind his hair.
"Hello anyone in their" the blonde haired boy next to me said waving his hands in front of me. Oh shit I probably looked pretty creepy to everyone else on the table.
"Uh I'm here" I said turning my attention back to my food.
"What's your name Hun, since I finally got your attention from Dracula over there" I kept my head facing in blondes direction to embarrass to turn back because I know he heard. I don't even like him, I just find him interesting to look at. Erg this dude is so irritating.
"My name is Genesis, You?" I said staring him exactly into his dark green eyes.
"Ah nice to meet you Genesis, My name is cocky" my eyes widen.
"What!" I said baffled then he immediately doubled over with laughter. He regained his composer and continued.
"Yup its Cocky" who dah fuq gonna name their child cocky.
"Cocky?" I asking making sure I was hearing right and he nodded his head.
"Your name really is Cocky"
"Yup well that what everybody calls me behind my back, I might as well embrace it" Now the whole table was laughing expect, mystery guy who just let out one of the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen in my life. Like he could be a teeth model, hmm is teeth model even a thing. My hands were now folded over my chest and I rolled my eyes at what they called a joke.
"Oh come on "he said looking at me in amusement. I just ignored his idiocy. I was almost done with my lunch anyway so I decided it get up to leave.
"Nice having lunch with you guys" and just before I could take my first step. I felt a hand spin me around in a split second, and I was now meet with the now very familiar annoyingly green eyes.
"Ethan....My names Ethan" he said smirking at me, my blood crawling as to how sickeningly close he was.
"Well Ethan, after I have EATEN with you I recognize that I rather the name cocky" I gave him a wide fake smile and with that I was off. I heard some snickering coming from the table because of what I said.
"It's ok honey, I know the real reason you rather that name" ohh how some people just can't take a hint.
