Clair and I had hung out a few times over the past week and we had found more and more that we had in common. For example, we both had a weakness for movie theater popcorn, loved classic rock music, and mystery novels. We were even planning on going to lollapalooza together over the summer, considering she lives in Chicago. The one thing bugging me was that we had still not defined our relationship. I didn't know if we were more than friends, and I was pretty scared to ask. What if she rejected me? Either way, I was going to play it safe.

We had scheduled to go to brunch today at a small cafe on campus called Angelo's. She said that she'd pick me up, we'd  eat, and then she'd take me shopping at a mall right off campus. I took a quick shower, put on a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt, my pumas, and headed outside. I spotted her nissan in its usual spot, and jogged over to the passenger seat.

"Hey," I smiled, closing the door behind me.

"Hiya," she smile back while turning the key, causing the car to roar. "So how's your morning?".

"It's alright. Pretty casual. How about you?" I responded.

"You know, the usual. I'm so excited to take you shopping! I mean, no offense, but it's kind of weird to wear a Michigan sweatshirt on Ohio campus," she laughed. I rolled my eyes at her and laughed with her.

"I don't know whether to be scared or excited to be going shopping with you," I said to her in a teasing tone. She laughed evilly for five seconds, then burst out laughing in her sweet, rich laugh. I laughed with her, because it was almost impossible not to, then looked out my window for the duration of the ride while we talked about football and the color blue.

Angelo's was fantastic. We shared a huge plate of chocolate strawberry pancakes and ate until we were stuffed. Afterwards, I paid the bill (it took a lot of convincing, but she finally let me), and we got back in the car to head to the mall. I had no idea what to expect considering the fact that I had only been to a mall twice before. We pulled into the parking lot and got a close spot.

"This mall is absolutely amazing," gushed Clair. "They have everything here, no joke". She smiled.

We walked up to the door, which I held open for her, then I followed her into a store called Urban Outfitters. I had never heard of it before. "This is my favorite store. Stand still," she ordered. I awkwardly stood still for about a minute while she scanned me with her eyes. "Wait here. I'll be right back," she said. I obeyed and sat on a chair behind me.

Five minutes later, she came back holding about twenty hangers of clothing. I saw jeans, sweaters, shirts, and even a hat. "These are for you to try on," she handed me the stack of clothes. I laughed and followed her to the dressing rooms. The clothes all looked like things I would wear, so I pulled on the first shirt. It was plaid and tight fitting. Stepping out of the dressing room, I saw Clair waiting for me. Her jaw dropped. "Dang," she whispered, standing up and walking over to me. "That looks really good on you. You should get it. Please get it," she pleaded. I laughed and looked in a mirror. It actually did look pretty good. My arm muscles stuck out through the sleeves (though they were small), and the neckline looked cool.

"Why not," I said. She smiled at me and made me go back in to try on the rest of the clothes.

After shopping, we got back into her car. I had spend two hundred-fifty dollars. I bought three pairs of jeans, four shirts, a few pairs of socks, two hats, and a new bookbag. Clair had spend less than me, considering her focus was mostly set on finding me new clothes. She got a dress, two pairs of shorts, and a tank top. They all looked great on her.

"You know, you should really wear that plaid shirt tomorrow," she started.

"Maybe. We'll see," I said teasingly. She playfully punched my shoulder. Looking out my window, I realized that we had just pulled into the dorm parking lot. I looked over at her. She looked amazing today. Her blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail, she was wearing white skinny jeans, an olive green top, and brown sandals. I just wanted for her to be mine already. Two seconds later, I felt her lips against mine. She pulled away and I stared at her in shock.

"Aren't you going to kiss me back?" she asked. I nodded, my eyes wide with surprise. "Good," she said before kissing me again. My hands found their way to her back, hers to my hair. Her hot breath on my face only made me crave her more. I pulled away quickly and stared at her.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" I asked briskly. She smiled lazily.

"I've been waiting for you to ask," she replied before kissing me again.
