"So babe, what happened in detention?" Tyler asked.
"What do you mean? You've had detention before, you know what it's like." I said a it sarcastically.
"Well yeah, but Mr. Anderson's a new teacher, he's never given a detention before, what was it like?"
"I don't know, boring?" He should know, he's had more than enough to remember.
"That's it, boring? That's all we get?"
"Yeah Lilly come on, there has to be something you can tell us." Alex said.
"Why are you guys so interested in a boring lunch detention? Nothing unusual happened, why would it be any different than detention with an experienced teacher?" I've been confused too many times today, they just needed to get to the point already.
"Well, I'm sure he's.. experienced. He has to be, he is that hot." Alex said wriggling her brows suggestively.
"Not like that, moron. You know what I meant"
"Ya I know, so nothing interesting happened, like at all?" Alex was really getting annoying now, luckily Tyler had shut up already.
"Nothing, sorry to bore you to death but it was just a boring detention." Hopefully, that would shut her up.
"So where so you guys want to go, Jake's Cafe or Starbucks?" Tyler asked, like he didn't already know.
Alex and I both looked at each other and said inn unison, "Jake's!"
I was already driving in that direction anyway. I have nothing against Starbucks, but they're always packed, there's never enough tables, and one of the baristas is Alex's ex-boyfriend James. After she found out he was cheating on her we haven't gone back, he was the kind of guy that gave his girl a promise ring, which he did, but then he went and screwed one of the girls basketball players. Needless to say, she won't be talking to him for about 10-20 years.
"Why'd I even ask? It's always the same answer, it'll always be the same answer," Tyler said with an unamused laugh.
"Tyler shut up, you know what happened, plus Jake's has a better caramel frappe anyway. Everything is better there, plus you don't have to move out of the way of people's selfies." I couldn't help but laugh at that last part, it was to true not to laugh.
"Just a small town girl
Livin in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin anywhere" My mom's ringtone started blaring through the car's Bluetooth.
"Guys shush for a minute, Hello?"
"Hey, where are you?"
"Driving over to Jake's, why?"
"We have dinner plans, you need to be home in an hour."
"Why, what's going on?"
"We have a guest, that's all I'm saying until you get here, don't be late please." With that, she hung up.
"That's weird, but whatever." I said, trying not to let my suspicion out.
"No fair, the first day of school just ended, I barely got to see you all summer, and now I don't even get a full hour with my girlfriend." Tyler started pouting in the passenger seat.
"Oh stop whining, she's my best friend and you got to spend more time with her than I did!"Alex said, she and Tyler always argued about who was better for me, her or him.
"Ya well now you can both see me everyday, Tyler, shouldn't you be at practice anyway?" I thought they started football practice at 3:30, it was almost 4.
