Summer break, one of the best times of the year besides Christmas. I was hanging upside down on the couch watching family guy when I heard the front door open. I snapped my head to the left and watched Mal walk in the door holding her huge iPhone 6+. Mal is twenty two and exactly four years older than me literally. We share the same birthday.
"Hey what's up?" I ask. As I sit upright fixing my hair. She turned to me and smiled,
"I just got off the phone with my little sister, she said that summer break has been one of the best things that has happened to her since sliced bread." I chuckle a bit as Mal takes her place beside me.
"Is she still...." I trailed off, knowing about everything that has happened to this kid. Mal nodded and scratched the back of her head.
"I really want Kit to live here, she'd be welcomed and accepted by everyone and wouldn't worry about being shoved around or even talked about behind her back. She's just growing up in a bad atmosphere and my mom doesn't seem to see that. At all." Mal stated. I nodded. I felt bad for Mal knowing her little sister was being bullied. I know I'd be incredibly depressed if that were to happen to me but in terms you could say I was the popular kid at my high school. All the girls acted coy when they were around me and now they act more jealous knowing that I had a girlfriend who I was practically obsessed with. I stood up and walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge,
"You know, just a thought, why don't you try talking to your mom and convince her to let Kit live here, you never know, she might say yes." I called. I glanced up from where I was standing to see Mal slowly nodding her head up and down,
"That could...work I guess." Mal answered quietly. "The only problem is Alex is where would she stay. I get this house is huge but we already have six people living here counting us two. She'd have to share a room." Mal made a pretty good point. Mal and I, along with Andrew, Joseph, Troy, and Thomas shared one big house. Each of us had our own room and all of us take care of one another. The house belongs to Mal who let her friends, one being my older brother,Thomas, rent out one room so they all had a place to live and I got lucky since there was a spare room left. I thought about it for a few more seconds.
"What about the attic?" I questioned. The attic was originally meant to be for storage but we found the basement a better option. The attic was already renovated so if anyone wanted to move in they could. There was silence until Mal piped up,
"Yeah that works but we'll have to get furniture and all that other stuff." She pointed out.
"We'll figure something out." I responded and went back to raiding the fridge. I heard Mal chuckle and enter the kitchen.
"Don't fill yourself there Alexander, we're all going out to dinner remember?" She patted my back and I smirked,
"Oh yeah." I said and closed the fridge door. I had almost let that slip my mind.
