Assignment, Cupcakes And Tears (Part 1)
~Lexie's POV~
I jumped up quickly and looked around, only to be faced with Mr. Bad Boy himself; Josh Taylor!
"What are you doing here?" I asked nervously.
"This is the park, where everyone is welcomed. It's a free world." He stated in a rude and bored tone.
"I did not peg you for the park type." I said crossing my arms over my chest, trying to look tough. But in reality, I was very uncomfortable to be standing here with him.
"I'm full of surprises." He said and I looked at him warily with my eyebrows raised, "Okay, not that it's any of your business, I brought my sister here." He said. At that moment, I realize that a little girl is behind him looking shy. It was evident that she is his sister as she had the same hair and eye colour as him. She was pretty, but there were sadness in her eyes.
At that moment, my brother spoke up, "Hi! My name is Jason. What's yours?" He asked the little girl. The girl just looked at him and then looked down. Jason look up at me with a quizzical expression. I just shrugged.
Jason turned his attention to Josh, "Who are you?" He asked him.
"My name is Joshua." He answered. To be honest, I was surprised he wasn't rude to him. That seems very out of character for him. He probably didn't want to be rude to a little boy.
I put my hand on Jason shoulder, preparing to stop this. I don't want Jason to think that he and Josh are friends or that we are. He is just a big jerk that gets his kicks out of making someone else's life a living hell. I hate him for that.
"What do you want?" I demanded, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Have you forgotten that we have a project to do?" He asked in the same demanding tone.
"I thought you said I should do my part and you do yours and stay out of each others way." I said. I was really starting to like that idea.
"Well, I changed my mind. Be at my house at six tonight to work on it." He said. He then smirked and added, "Don't be late."
I stared at him. Was he serious? Boy, was he unpredictable. I don't understand him.
"Fine." I said after a while. I just want to hurry and get this assignment over and done with so I can get back to my life and he get back to his.
He gave me his address and turned away with his little sister trailing beside him.
God! I can't stand him!
*~*~*
I can't believe him!
What is he trying to pull? First he wanted to do the project separately and now he wants to do it together. Talk about bipolar. I wanted to argue, but I really wanted to get this assignment done so I can get back to my own life.
His sister seems nice and not at all like him. I wonder what her problem was though. Although her blue eyes were filled with shadows, it was evident that there was a little girl dying to come out.
I was currently in my room looking up at the ceiling. After leaving Josh and his sister, Jason and I went to get ice-cream and then we headed home. Jason never stopped asking questions about why the girl did not acknowledged him and if he had said something wrong. I had to explain that it wasn't his fault and that she was probably shy. He felt better afterwards.
I looked at the time and saw that it was 4:30pm. I decided to check my Facebook. Half hour later I became bored and decided to get ready. I pulled on comfortable jeans and a grey sweatshirt and pulled my hair into a pony tail. I grabbed my phone and my bag and went downstairs.
"Mom. I'm going out to work on an assignment!" I shouted to my mother who was in the kitchen, "I will be back for dinner."
My mother popped her head from the kitchen, "Okay sweetheart. Be careful."
"I will." I said as I opened the front door. Based on the address that Josh gave me earlier, I realized that he did not live far from me, so I decided to walk.
Fifteen minutes later, I was ringing the doorbell of his house. The house was huge. I could tell that his family had some money. I guess, I shouldn't be surprised, that was probably why he got away with so many fights and destruction of property at school. I raised my hand to the doorbell again, when the door opened. A woman with blonde hair and blue eyes stood at the door. Her hair was in a messy bun and she was wearing a white apron that read 'Let's Get Cooking' in red letters on the front. She was an older version of Josh, she must be his mother.
"Hello dear." She said smiling.
"Hi, I'm Alexandra." I said smiling back, "I'm here to see Josh."
"Come in dear. He's in his room." She stepped aside to let me in. "I'm going to call him."
She went upstairs while I stood awkwardly in the living room waiting. She came back down with Josh following behind. "Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend, Joshua?" She was saying. I felt my cheeks heat up at her words, so I held my head down.
"She is not my girlfriend, Mom." Josh said rolling his eyes.
"Really? Too bad. She seems nice and she'll definitely be good for you." She continued while Josh looks uncomfortable. I smiled at that fact. I like his mother already.
"Mom!" Josh complained. But his mother ignored him and turned away into another room. Josh turned around and looked at me, "Come on, we're going upstairs." He then turned around and head upstairs. I followed him to a bedroom that I assumed was his.
His room was the biggest room I have ever seen before. There was a queen size bed in the center of the room. The walls were grey and posters covered one section of it. All the furniture were black. There was a bedside table on the right side of the bed and at the far right corner there was a table and a chair. On the table there was a computer and papers were scattered beside it.
A walk-in closet was on the left and right beside that stood a huge black couch. The room was a typical boy's room; it was not clean, but not messy either. The room suited him too. It was dark, dangerous and brooding like him.
I walked to the couch and took a seat. I put my bag on the floor and search for my Science book. He went over his desk for some papers and took a seat beside me.
"Okay, let's get this over with. What's first?" He asked looking at the assignment sheet.
"Well, I already did the part about placing the elements in the correct order on the Periodic Table. So now comes question two. If we work fast, we can do that and the last two questions today and we will be done." I said hopefully. It was evident that I wanted to get this assignment over with and if it takes more than two hours, then so be it. I don't want to spend anymore time with him than I should.
"Woah, this is due next week Wednesday, what's the rush? I can't spend so much time on one assignment. Do you think I don't have a life like you?" He asked clearly irritated by my decision.
"Whatever Josh." I said, "Does it look like I care about the troubles that you are planning to get into? I just want to get this over and done with." I said irritated as well.
His eyes shone with anger because of my tone or at what I said. Or both.
Uh oh
