Chapter 2 – Yummy Yummy Pudding
Our setting happens here on planet Earth, in this land of samurai, Edo.
"The Land of Samurai", it's been quite a while since our country has been called that. Why? Well... The vast, distant universe: where dreams and romance unfurl, and one finds inner peace. It is a place of grand adventure, where anything is possible. You can encounter things that you never have seen before. Countless planets bound the cosmic space. With all of that said, Aliens exist.
Twenty years ago, a race from space called Amanto came.
The Amanto's kept on landing in this planet. It's thanks to them that Edo has grown so much; hence the government have to let them go about freely. They are strong and highly advanced when it comes to technology. They also seized power and established a prohibition on all swords.
As an effect, the samurai now tread a fine legal line, barely scraping to live their lives.
In this age, there's a man who still possesses the soul of the samurai. His name is Sakata Gintoki. I, Shimura Shinpachi, work for this irresponsible, immature man as a jack of all trades along with Kagura-chan. Together we take on jobs no matter what they are. We accept all kinds as long as we are paid, may it be menial or large-scale.
Kabuki District is a rowdy and chaotic place, where crooks, criminals and lowlifes gather. It just so happen that we live here. With Sadaharu, our Alien pet dog, we run a shop. Yorozuya Shop. We are ever ready to receive jobs. Find a pet? Fix roofs? Unclog toilets? Solve cases? Missing persons? Require bodyguards? Need a hand? Need help? Come and drop by anytime!
That is what I want say, however... these days, money hasn't been coming in. There aren't any job opportunities.
"I'm back.", I called out as I entered the shop. Only to find Kagura lying half-dead on the sofa and Gin-san picking his nose while sitting lazily on his seat. The place wasn't even cleaned up yet. I sighed. I'm already used to with this scenery.
With a growling stomach, Kagura bellowed, "Gin-chan... Shinpachi... Hurry and feed me something... I dying."
While mopping the floor, I spoke out, "We can't help it, can we? We're tight on money. There aren't any job offerings these past few weeks. Rather than lying around doing nothing shouldn't you two go out and look for jobs? Or make some fliers to advertise our services? Really you guys... Make yourselves useful."
"Shinpachi, be optimistic! Jobs will come knocking on our door before we know it.", Gin-san retorted as he flung his booger away.
"That's too positive!! And you're contradicting yourself! You're already giving off all sorts of negativeness! Be more productive!", I fumed at him.
Kagura bellowed melancholy, "If only that kind and beautiful girl would come again and fix something for us... She was like an angel! An angel sent from above!"
I commented, "We were indeed lucky at that time. It's been weeks since that day. However, it appears whatever luck we had left is spent."
"Hmmm... that girl huh.", Gin-san added while reminiscing that event.
I opened the compartment on Gin-san's table. I'm sure we still have our emergency fund stashed in here. We still have to eat at least one meal. Huh? Huhh??? It's not here!! Not here!!
Knowing the most possible culprit, I glanced at Gin-san and saw the newest issue of Jump manga he was reading.
"Hey! Seriously! Gin-san you spent our emergency fund buying that didn't you?! You're an adult! Try to be responsible!" I angrily shouted.
