"You should sit down, you look tired." I wanted to sit down, but I felt less vulnerable standing up.

"You still haven't explained." Yes, he had told me something, but he hadn't told me what I wanted to know. Why all of this was happening and why I felt like I had been chucked under a bus. Why a sudden memory lurked at the back of my mind, coupling with a voice telling me that everything was true.

He rubbed the back of his neck, face a picture of confusion as he thought."This is the part that's really going to set you off."

"I'm already scared, there isn't much else you can do."

He was back in front of me in an instant, eyes staring into mine, speaking to me in a way that didn't require words, pleading with me to understand.

"You don't have to be scared of me. I'm not out to hurt you. I didn't have time to tell you last night, I was desperate. It was wrong and I should have asked, but I needed energy so bad."

"So you bit me?" I knew how the story went, girl meets boy, boy is vampire,t hey get into trouble and vampire saves the day, girl also gets turned into a vampire and that makes everything okay. But it was just that, a story, and I wasn't going to take any of his bull.

"I've told you once before, I didn't expect it to be so difficult when I told you again. I was never supposed to tell you again." A pause."You really should sit down."

"If I sit then will you stop procrastinating and tell me?" I was already sitting down, crossing a leg beneath me. He remained standing, rubbing his jaw line, one that was slowly getting stubbly and prickly to the touch.

"Do you believe that human's aren't the only species, that there are others out there, more powerful than you?"

I held up a hand, stopping him from speaking. "I already know where this is going, so let's just cut the crap. I need the truth this time."

"You know what I'm about to tell you? You remember me telling you before?"

"I don't remember anything from before," I quoted the word. "It's pretty easy to guess. You bit me because you needed blood. You need blood to stay alive because you're a vampire."

He grimaced. "I hate that word."

"I raised an eyebrow. "But I'm right?"

"Not exactly, well, sort of. We're not vampires, we're Eternals. Essentially, we can live forever."

I smiled, the story getting better and better by the second. And by better I meant ridiculous. "So now you're immortal."

He scowled at me, not liking the disbelieving smile that I knew was present on my face. "No. Eternal," he stressed the word, like it meant something other than what I was imagining. "I can be killed, easily if you know how to do it, but I can live forever if I do it right."

"You're crazy." Totally and utterly bonkers.

"Of course you'd say that." His hand was trailing up and down my arm leisurely. "You'll understand me at the end, even if you don't like it."

"Stop doing that," I said, referring to his arm. It was distracting, nice, but distracting and not what I needed right now.

"Sorry," he didn't remove his hand. "Anyway, humans aren't the only ones around here. Eternals live here too, and possibly other creatures, it's tricky to tell when the majority of us want to stay hidden. Do you believe in angles?"

"Zander!" He was touching me again. This time, he moved his hand, then reached out again, like he was going to touch me once more. He took a step back instead, I was disappointed, but relieved. I needed to focus.
