Late Night Tea

(Couple)

Ravens' eyes suddenly shot open. She lied there panting, while her wide eyes remained looking at the ceiling. Flashes of a nightmare went through her mind, clips appearing like a old movie. She sat up in bed and pushed the hot covers off then wiped the sweat from her forehead.

A flash of lightning followed by a clap of thunder drew her gaze to her window, the open curtains showcasing the thunderstorm that had rolled in overnight. Raven gave a deep sigh and slowly rolled out of bed. Not bothering to turn on the lights, she floated into the bathroom and turned on the faucet. Having splashed water on her face, Raven looked up and meet her own gaze in the mirror. Dark circles were beginning to form below tired purple eyes and pale skin was a shade lighter than normal.

Another sleepless night, Raven thought.

Turning off the faucet, Raven floated back out of the bathroom and grabbed her cloak before going to her room door, activating it to open. She began her trip down the hall to head to the common room. Once there she quickly made her way to the kitchen to grab the tea kettle in the cabinet. Filling it water she then turned and put it on the stove to begin heating. Giving another deep sigh Raven moved to sit and rest her head on the countertop, her thoughts running wild. After a few moment longer, the kettle began to make a loud whistle indicating the water was ready.

Raven quickly stood and moved the kettle off the hot stove then went to grab her favorite mug. As soon as she had the water poured and a tea bag in her mug, Raven levitated over to the couch and slowly floated down to sit. She had just blew at the surface of the drink and taken the first sip when the doors whisked open and someone stepped into the room.

"I figured you'd be here."

Raven glanced over her shoulder and met Robins' unmasked gaze from his place at the doorway. She sent him a small smile before turning back to her mug.

"Nightmares again," he questioned softly, this time from leaning over the back of the couch.

Raising an eyebrow while taking a sip of her tea, she turned to him again, "Now...how did you ever guess that?"

Robin just grinned then vaulted over the backrest of the couch, landing with a soft bounce on the cushion, "Y'know just a hunch. This whole shared bond thing we have really comes in handy."

She released a small giggle and shook her head, "Wow! You really are the worlds greatest detective, huh?"

"Nah, I think that position is filled by Batman. But I will take greatest detective of Jump City."

Both nodded together with a serious expression on their face before making eye contact and smiling. They both quickly glanced away and looked at the windows when a bright flash of lightning shot across the sky, followed by a loud boom. Robin looked back to Raven, who was already focused on her mug, and moved closer to place an arm over her shoulders. She made a noise of content and moved closer to the warmth her boyfriend provided.

"Do you want to talk about it," he murmured.

"There's not much to talk about. Every time I wake up, I've already forgotten what the dream is about. And what I do remember comes to me in flashes so fast I can't put together what it means."

"Is it usually the same dream?"

"I don't know. But what I do know is I wake up feeling the same way every time; scared."

There was a long quiet pause before she spoke up again, "Something is coming Robin, I just don't know what it is."

Raven looked away from her half-full mug and meet her boyfriends blue eyes, "What if this is something we can't handle this time? What if-"

Robin started shaking his head, "Hey, no 'what if's'. We're the Teen Titans, we'll handle what ever is coming a our way together, okay? And we'll kick butt like it's a regular Tuesday while doing it."

Using the arm he'd draped across Raven, he pulled her closer and placed a soft lingering kiss to the gem on her forehead.

"We'll be alright," he whispered, "I promise."

He pulled back to make eye contact and smiled. Raven returned the smile, though a bit slower. They cuddled back together and sat in silence listening to the rain pelt into the glass. Robin suddenly grabbed her mug and stood from the couch while saying 'I'll be back'. He dropped the empty glass off at the counter and dashed out the door towards his room. Raven remained curled up in her cloak till he came running back in with a fluffy blanket in his arms. Robin unfolded the blanket and draped it across Ravens' lap before going back to make a new mug of tea.

Raven kept her eyes on him as he fixed and brought the drink over. He passed her the mug before plopping down on the cushion and sliding under the blanket as well. His arm was tossed back over her shoulders, giving Raven the chance to cuddle back into his side and rest her head in the crook of his neck. Robin laid his head on top of hers then began to rub his hand up and down her arm in a soothing motion.

"Why don't we try getting some sleep? I know you're bound to be exhausted," Robin whispered.

Raven just gave a slight nod and sipped on her tea a bit more before setting it aside on the coffee table. She drew her feet up off the floor, tucking them under the blanket and leaned more into her boyfriends side with a hum. With the rain still pouring and the repetitive swipe of Robins' hand, it didn't take long before Raven was able to fall into slumber. Robin glanced down when he heard her small snores and smiled, placing another kiss on her forehead. He himself then tilted his head back and slowly drifted off the sleep.

Come morning, the rain had stopped and the rest of the friends stumbled in the room to find them still on the couch. The couple had moved during the night, Robin laying on his back with Raven curled up on his chest, his wrapped around her and soft snores coming from them both. The blanket was pulled up to their chins, almost hiding Raven from view.

And the black mug still remained half empty on the coffee table.

Hi! So I'm back...I guess? So this was a little chapter I just wrote on a whim. Just some soft kisses and a few cuddles. Sorry I was gone so long, I had just lost time and motivation to write but hopefully I can start writing again soon.
