"Jason, maybe you should just give up on finding you're mate," Wesley, my beta, says to me, "I mean, we've looked everywhere and we can't find her." Wesley may be my best friend, but I honestly don't think he uses his brain that much. "I can't just give up, I want what my father and mother had, not some girl I think looks nice," I sigh.
Now you may be wondering, why is you're beta telling you to give up the search for you're mate? Well I'm a 26 year old Alpha, I should have been found my mate. Without a Luna, a pack will never be at its full potential. But with my pack being the second strongest pack in the U.S., I think we can wait a little bit longer.
I step out of my office, no longer wanting to listen to Wesley's wise advice. I step into the main living room of the pack house to see my older brother, James, playing with his pups. He wanted a life without the stress of running a pack, so he handed it down to me and became one of our pack doctors. He's happy with his mate, Krislyn, and their two pups, Korey, who's 8 and Kelis, who's ten. In the reality of things, he had everything I wanted. I had to find my mate, I needed her by my side. I longed for a women I've never meet, I'm desperate.
Korey runs up to me with his dreadlocks swinging behind him. It was a tradition for the King men to have dreadlocks going way back to my great-great-great grandfather. Korey looks up at me with puppy dog eyes, meaning he wants something knowing that I'm, as Krislyn puts it, uncle pushover. "Uncle, can I please have some ice cream?" Korey asks with a whimper. I laugh at his attempt to get ice cream out of me and pick him up in my arms. "Sure little man, whatever you like," I reply back as we make our way into the kitchen. Taking out the vanilla ice cream, I scoop some into a bowl and hand it to the boy who's drooling as he sits a the counter top with brown eyes filled with desire. He shovels the ice cream into his mouth with a spoon causing me to laugh at his goofy behavior.
"Jason," a livid Krislyn speaks from the doorway, "what did I tell you about feeding Korey ice cream when we say no?" I roll my eyes at her speech and put the ice cream container back in the feezer for the next time my little man asks for it. "I swear, you two our going to be the death of me," Krislyn huffs as she takes the now empty bowl away from a now smirking Korey. As you can tell, Korey is a mischievous little boy while his older brother is the total opposite with his mature demeanor. "Yeah, yeah, Krislyn. We've heard it all before," I chuckle as I sit next to Korey who is now entertaining himself by sticking the spoon to his nose. " Mhhmmm, you boys are nothing but trouble," she says with a hint of amusement as she takes the sticky spoon of her sons nose.
Jason, there's a call for you from Alpha Duhran from the Grey Moon Pack, Wesley mind links me.
I get up after ruffling Koreys hair and telling Krislyn she wished she was like us, which she replied to with a eye roll. I make my way toward the office where I spend many of my hours, the paperwork and debris of my hard work to keep the pack a float litter the room. I keep myself engaged in my obligations as the Alpha to keep my mind off her. The her without a face, name, a voice, absolutely nothing, but I still find myself wishing to be by her side. I gaze at the photographs littering the halls to see one of my mother and father, along with me and my older brother, several years back, I was probably 13. My mother with her beautiful, silky, jet black hair running down her back, she peers up at my father with a adoring look in her eyes as his eyes gaze down into hers with the same look of adoration. Was I doomed to never meet the winsome angel that I could call mine? I shake my head, no, I must not think that way, I will find her, I will.
Entering the office, I see Wesley waiting for me, with phone in hand along with a look of alarm, along with my third in command, Victor, nicknamed Vick, who also had the same look. I knew something was wrong, I quickly take the phone out of Wesley's hand and put it to my ear.
"Alpha Jason speaking," I respond in the alpha tone I've had for a long time.
"This is Alpha Duhran of the Grey Moon Pack, it's very urgent," Duhran, a close friend of mine, replies frantically.
"What's wrong?"
"Rogues have come really close to my territory, rumored to be the rogue group that take mated and human women, using them as sex slaves. We need the help of your pack to finally rid ourselves of their burden."
"Of course, we'll be there as soon as possible. See you then Duhran."
"Thank you friend, see you then."
I hang up the phone and mind-link my pack, it's rogue killing time.
