"Kenna?"The voice of Grayson snapped me out of my daze. I didn't even realize that I had stop walking and the rest of the boys already strapped on their lifeguard vests. After Grayson told me the horrible news of going jet skiing, we made our way to a private beach. I stood to the side as I let the boys put on their lifevest to think my life through and also send a small prayer to god in hopes I didn't have to step one foot in that salty liquid.
"Huh?" I responded
"You've been standing there for like, five minutes, come on let's go."
Grayson's voice came out ruder than I would of liked and it ticked off an alarm in me. I clutched my fists tightly to strain myself from yelling at him that I have a horrible fear of water. But, knowing that would be absolutely embarrassing to reveal, I nodded meekly and followed behind him as he walked. I was panting by the time we caught up with the rest of the boys, Grayson took long deep strides while my shorter lengthened body didn't stand a chance.
"Great, you're ready!" Ethan exclaimed excitedly, "This is going to be so much fun."
I held a scoff in as he said that, fun? If anything this is going to be a nightmare, not fun!
"Yeah, fun." I said through gritted teeth.
A tall man handed me a bright orange life vest, I muttered a small thank you as he walked away. I stared down at the vest, how the hell is this going to work over my dress? I didn't want to risk getting my dress wet especially since this was the most expensive article of clothing I have owned. Is my outfit even appropriate for this occasi-
Oh wait.
"Oh darn!" I snapped my fingers in a disappointing way, even though there was no ounce of disappointment in me at all, "I don't have a bathing suit and there is no way I am going to wear this over my dress."
I admit, my tone came out more prissy then I would like; but it was the honest truth. The boys had taken off their shirts so they were left exposing their upper body and me in a pool of hot sweat - not the point - but it only seems fair for me to ditch out this event, right?
"We got you covered! I asked my sister Cameron to bring an extra pair of bathing suit before we left the hotel." Ethan informed.
Of course, I was proven wrong once again.
"Awesome!" I expressed with a fake smile. Just fucking awesome.
A tan girl with long brunette hair stood in front of me. Her features were simple but she was absolutely gorgeous, light hazel eyes adorned with a high lengthens nose. She stood a bit shorter than me but not by much. Her black shorts and white shirt looked so simple yet managed to look fashionable.
"I'm Cameron." The girl introduced while pulling me into a hug, "And I'm a hugger."
Her embrace shocked me for a second but I pulled out of it and chuckled, "I have the unfortunate luck to be related to these to goofs."
Her remark only made me snort harder, "Tough life."
She smiled at me and tugged on my wrist, "Let's get you changed, shall we?" She jokingly winked at me and I followed behind her.
Her bubbly and chill personality made me only made me want to open up to her. She seemed like the type of girl you can tell everything too, your darkest secrets; anything. Yet, she wouldn't tell a soul.
Cameron lead me to a beach closet and handed me a floral printed bikini top paired with a matching bottom, I chewed my lip at the sight. I felt extremely self conscious whenever I wore a bathing suit, that also may or may not be the reason why I haven't been to the beach in two years.
