Mai sharab ka kya karunga?
Aur teri kami tujse hi puri hogi
Mai kisi aur ka kya karunga?

"If you go near him... I'll kill him."
"Main usse maar dunga." (I'll kill him.)
His voice dropped to a warning growl.
"Mujhe farak nahi padta baad mein kya hoga." (I don't care what happens next.)

Mishti's breath hitched. Her throat felt tight. Like she'd swallowed something heavy and sharp.

Her eyes followed him helplessly as Adair turned abruptly, storming out.

The door slammed shut behind him with a metallic click.

And then...

Silence.

Thick. Tense. Breathing. Alive.

She sat frozen on the couch. Still. Her pink slipper—just one—lay abandoned near her left foot where it had slipped off when she curled up moments ago. She didn't even glance at it. Her feet were cold, but her chest burned.

She shot up.

Didn't think. Didn't speak.

Just ran.

"Mishti!" Riya called out, standing to stop her.

But Vikrant raised a hand calmly. "Let her go."

Riya's brows knitted together. "But Dad—"

He turned to her, voice gentle yet firm. "It's between her and him. She can handle him."

There was weight in those words—trust, but also experience.

Riya stood frozen for a second, watching the door swing back slightly from Mishti's escape.

Vikrant turned now, eyes on Raghav.

"So, Raghav..."

Raghav, who'd been mentally praying to all gods at once, nearly choked.

His gaze darted nervously—first to Vikrant, then to Riya, then back to Vikrant.

"Ye—Yes... da—un—uncle..." he coughed hard mid-word, trying to dodge the dad he almost blurted.

Riya's eyes widened like saucers.

Oh God.

Did he just...?

Is he trying to get both of us killed tonight? her inner voice screamed.

Vikrant raised one brow.

"Going to a party?" he asked casually.

Raghav blinked. "Huh? No! No, of course not!"

"Then why are you dressed like it's a wedding function?" he deadpanned.

Raghav quickly glanced down at himself.
