Michael's P.O.V
"Ash?" I ask, shocked at what's right in front of me.
"Michael." Ashlynn says, immediately pulling away from Ashton.
"I swear it's not what it looks like."
"What do you mean it's not what it looks like?" I asked raising my voice.
I couldn't believe Ashlynn. We were so honest and now this? What else has she been hiding from me?
"Ashton," I said. "Can Ashlynn and I talk in private?" I ask, clearing the door way. He slowly gets up and walks to the door, avoiding eye contact with Ashlynn and I. Once he's gone I close the door and step closer to Ashlynn.
"Michael, look." Ashlynn says. "I've had a rough day. Something happened between the girls and I, and I've been upset. All Ashton did was try to make me feel better.
"I can see he's succeeded." I say rolling my eyes.
"Michael are you even listening to me?" She screams coming closer to me.
"Yes a matter of fact I am. Ashton's just getting all over you." I yell
"That's it. I'm done. I'll be back later." She screams, storming past me, and out of the room. I follow her out of the room and down the stairs.
"Ashlynn, wait." I whisper. She grabbed her keys off the table.
"Leave me alone." She snaps, slamming the door behind her.
A few minutes later I hear her car pull out of the drive way.Ashlynn's P.O.V
I don't know where I'm going but I'm going somewhere. I don't know how long I've been driving. Thirty minutes? An hour? I take a turn on to 31st street when my life suddenly goes into slow motion. I see a car coming towards me but I can't think to swerve. I hear a crash and a huge shatter. I squeeze my eyes shut and prepare for what was about to happen.
Michaels P.O.V
I've been looking out the window for hours. I've called Ashlynn many times. She won't answer and she hasn't came back.
"Hey Michael are you alright?" I look over to see Calum. I nod and look back at the tv.
"Michael, come on. You're never this quiet."
"You didn't hear the yelling?" I sigh.
"Things aren't so good with ash I'm guessing?" He ask taking a seat beside me on the couch.
"Yeah things aren't good with Ashton either." I say leaning my head against the back of the couch.
My phone rings and I see it's not a noticeable number. I pick up my phone and answer it any way.
"Hello?" I say into the phone.
"Michael. This is Chasity, Ashlynn's mom." I could tell she had been crying, so there had to be something wrong.
"What's.. Going on?" I ask, unsure of what I'm going to hear.
"Ashlynn was in an accident. We need you to come to the hospital."
I was shocked about what I had just heard. It was all my fault. If I would have just told her that she didn't need to hang out with the girls, Ashton wouldn't be all over her and we wouldn't have fought. Which means she wouldn't be in the hospital.
"I'll be right there." I say hurriedly. I walk over to the table and grab my keys.
"What's going on?" Calum ask.
"Ash was in an accident." I say, opening the door.
"You want me to get the guys?"
I nod walking out the door."Luke. Drive." I said, getting into the passenger seat.
While we were going down the road, you could feel the tension between Ashton and I. Everyone was silent. I twiddled with my thumbs as a nervous habit. I couldn't keep my mind off of Ashlynn, how every time I looked at her I would remember the accident, that may have changed her life, would be my fault.
...
Once we finally got to the hospital, I immediately got out of the car and ran inside. Chasity saw me and came over to me.
"Are you ok Michael?" I nod, not wanting to talk. "They aren't letting people see her yet but, buy what I've been told she isn't in the best of shape."
I look over to see a nurse coming towards us.
"Are you family of Ashlynn Mathews?" She ask.
"Boyfriend." I corrected.
"Well, is there any family were waiting on?" She ask. I look over to see Ashton, Luke, and Calum come in as if they were on cue.
"Looks like we're all here." I say. She nods looking down at her clipboard.
"Well, there's a decision we need you all to make. Unfortunately, when Ashlynn was hit, it basically made her legs permanently paralyzed. We can leave her legs alone and she can be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Or we can amputate her legs from the knee down and give her a chance to walk again."
I tried to take in what the nurse was telling us. She won't be able to walk again? I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair, trying to make a decision. I look over to Chasity, who was about as mixed up as I was.
"You choose Michael. She's your girlfriend." She says, looking like she was about to cry. I look over to the boys to see them shrug. Well, I guess I'm on my own.
"Amputate." I say. "At least she'll still have a chance to walk."
She nods, walking down the dark hallway. I slump myself down into one of the chairs in the small waiting room, putting my head in my hands.
What have I done?
