I raced through the forest, on my weak legs that didn't receive exercise often, hoping to put as much distance between me and the murderers as possible. Panting for breath that my aching lungs so desperately needed, I started to slow down my pace, gulping in as many mouthfuls of air that I could intake, hoping that the creatures behind me would relent. However the chasers were relentless and paws pounding on the leaves behind me sent me into a running frenzy once again, adrenaline pumping through my veins, I pushed on.

Howls and growls came from behind me, leaving me willing for my legs to run faster. I was almost there. One furry black paw came reaching out towards me, a second too late.

I jumped off the cliff, failing my arms around helplessly and screaming my lungs out before plunging into the dark depths of the waterfall where no wolf would dare go.

Poisoned.

Cursed waters.

Thats what they saw it as.

Right now all I saw it was as a escape route from those filthy beasts.

The roaring of the waterfall was the last thing I ever heard for a period of time before I plunged into the dark abyss.

The last daylight I would ever see.

Hopefully not.

The sound of metal scraping against metal awoke me from my slumber.

I looked around to find myself in a small, humble cottage which was only decorated with a small bookshelf and a jug of flowers except for this poor excuse of a bed that I was sleeping on.

I could already feel the bites of the bedbugs taking effect all over my body.

Well, I guess anything is better than being dead.

Sitting up on the bed, dizziness overcame me and I waited for it to pass. Sunlight streamed through the windows.

Ugh, how long was I even asleep for? Last I remembered I was plunging into the waters.

The creaking of the door opening interrupted my train of thought and a old granny strolled it.

"Tsk, finally awake my dear? 2 days already, anymore longer than that and I'm afraid the other Gyods would be demanding for you to leave."

I did not say anything but only narrowed my eyes at her, before bursting into tears when the fact that I was so close to death suddenly came crashing down onto me.

"It..it...isn't my fault I was sleep...sleeping for such a long time,I COULD HAVE EVEN BEEN DEAD!"

I sobbed even harder when I realized that I was still alive. Still alive, not dead.

Still alive

I continued, my words steadier than before"I was running away from...from......"

I trailed off as I recounted what I was running away from.

Wolves, massive wolves, vicious creatures who howled to the moon. Wolves who were chasing after me, wolves who killed my parents, wolves who were going to kill me.

"Big bad wolves." I finished, my eyes wide.

Yes, yes I remember now, I remember my house going up in flames, burning to ashes, I remember my parents pushing me out by the back door and telling me to run as fast as possible. I remember the wolves lunging at them. I...I remember the wolves tearing them to pieces right in front of my eyes. Mauled and slaughtered.
