"I'll keep you safe
Try hard to concentrate
Hold out your hand
Can you feel the weight of it
The whole world at your fingertips
Don't be, don't be afraid
Our mistakes they were bound to be made
But I promise you I'll keep you safe"
Dylan looked at you, he watched as your chest moved up then fell back down. He looked at your closed eyes, your peaceful expression and then your closed lips. He noticed the scratches on your cheeks, the ones that he had caused because of his foolishness. He listened to the sound of the machine that tracked your heart rate, that gave him hope that you would stay with him.
"I'm sorry, (y/n)." He whispered through his tears, his hand slowly reached out and clasped yours. He rubbed your palm as he hoped you would open your eyes and look at him. That you would give him a small smile and tell him everything is and will be okay. "I'm so sorry..." He said again, hoping you could hear him.
You could hear him, within your slumber on your hospital bed, but you couldn't respond to him. "If you wake up I'll never let you get hurt again, I'll protect you from everything." He promised hoping that you would wake up since what he said should've pleased you. It did, but still your eyes stayed close and your mouth was silent.
"You'll be an architect so pull up your sleeves
And build a new silhouette
In the skylines up ahead
Don't be, don't be afraid
Our mistakes they were bound to be made
But I promise you I'll keep you safe
I'll keep you safe"
"Oh, oh, (y/n)!" Dylan heard your mother scream as she walked into the room with her husband on her arm. "My dear little girl, what happened to you?" She asked as if you were in a state where you could respond to her question.
"She was in a car accident, we both were." Dylan said as his eyes stayed on you. He really shouldn't of been out of his hospital bed but he couldn't stand not being near you for a second. He had to see you, he had to make sure you were alright. He looked at your mother and father with a guilty look on his face. "I'm sorry! The car it came out of no where, I tried to cover her, I tried to keep her safe... I wasn't fast enough... I wasn't enough." He said as he held on tighter to your hand and began to cry. Tears came out of his eyes like water flows off a waterfall, repeatedly.
"Oh, no!" Your mother cried as she rushed over to your bedside and grabbed your other hand, her husband right behind her. "How could - my sweet daughter, so fragile... Why?" Your mother asked Dylan as if she couldn't understand what had happened was an accident.
"It was my fault, I should've been more focused on the road." He said as he hung his head in shame and regret. "The other car... The driver was on his phone and before I knew what was happening we collided. (Y/n) flew through the window - I tried to grab her, I tried too!" He yelled in between sobs as he looked up at you again.
"I was too late." He whispered.
"Darkness will be rewritten
