Chapter 2

I immediately flung open my car door and stormed toward the woman. I had believed just a few moments ago that this lady was simply looking out for her beloved daughter, that she just had the wrong idea about me. I could easily change her opinion on me, but the problem was that this woman had a heart of ice. She didn't truly care for her daughter. In no way did she deserve a daughter as beautiful and kind as Mya. As soon as the woman saw me walking over to her, her scowl grew even more. Mya simply stood there, too shocked and terrified to move. Her tears continued to fall to her trembling feet. Suddenly I stopped in my tracks.

A dozen thoughts took over my mind. I was no longer just focused on getting revenge on Mya's mother, but on all the little things that had made me angry before. Memories began to pour in.

I remembered how alone and damaged I felt when Mya had totally forgotten about my existence years ago.

I remembered how hurt I was when Mya had run away from me out of fear.

I remembered how pissed I was at myself for letting Mya get that scared of me that she attempted to run away.

I remembered how furious I was at Mya's friend for giving me the evil eye when she didn't even know me.

But worst of all, I remembered Mya's words.

"I really like you, too."

I felt as if I was a raging bull, and the red flag had been pulled. Or as if all the thoughts of anger I had were waves in the ocean, but they had just been taken over by a bigger, stronger wave of beligerence. There was only one thing on my mind at the moment. And that was just how enraged I was. Not just with Mya's mother, but with how horrible my life had been altogether.

Suddenly an odd smell filled the air. It smelled fishy and quite salty. I sensed that it was coming from the house across the street from us.  I turned my head in the direction of the house. I could see inside the open window on the front side of the house. There, pulling a rather large fish out of a brown paper bag, was an old man.

I stretched my arm across the empty street, reaching into the open window, and prying the fish out of the man's hands. It wasn't very hard getting the old man to give up on holding onto the fish, considering how weak and old he was. Once I had I a good grip on the slimy animal, (the fish, not the old man) I returned my arm to normal length. I was now holding the large fish in my hand.

I look up to see Mya,  who was still trembling and tears continued to fall down her face, which was still red from her mother. She was deffinetly frightened from her mother's outburst, but she did have a look of shock on her face as well. It was not as great as her mother's, however, due to the fact that she had seen me do odd things like this before.

"What exactly are you gonna do with that?" her mother asked, trying to sound just annoyed with me, but you could clearly hear the sound of shock in her voice.  I simply looked at her and shook my head before turning my attention to the fish in my hands.

"I can tolerate some things." I said, quite calmly. Seeing Mya's mother's uneasiness calmed me a bit. I was a step further to achieveing my goal.

"You still didn't answer my question," the woman blurted out rudely.

"And you didn't let me finish," I snapped back. The lady didn't say a word after that. Although her face  continued to show a hint of annoyance.

"As I was saying, I can tolerate some things. I can tolerate two jerks being total jerks towards each other, and only each other. But one thing I cannot and will not tolerate is someone who's being a total jerk to a totally innocent person. A person who doesn't deserve it at all-"
