AN: Can I just one thing, I didn't think anyone would love how I started the story off with poems. It was real tricky for me to even rewrite the whole story without my co-author. So, that makes me so happy. Another thing, to continue with the prologue each and every chapter will start off with a poem. That is all I had to say in this Author's note and I hope you enjoy it.
Warning: ( Readers discretion advised ) This book at times will cover uncomfortable scenes such as abuse, and many more . Please note that I will not describe rape but I have scenes that will up you at unease. If you can't handle it for some reason, I suggest you don't read. That's it, I had to make this clear before trouble happens. Also, I really don't want this to be mature cause its not really. I hope.
"The first thing stolen from her was her name
Her first birthday present given from her parents
Was now replaced with the girlIt didn't cut her the first time
It deeply stabbed her in her core
When it became her new label
It was imprinted onto her soul
And etched into her brain until it became numb
But automatically became bittersweet to the point
Where Ezra was slowly drifting away
And started to make her dreams
Her only safe heaven to go to "The crystal blue sky slowly became tainted with shades of violet and crimson. Little puffs of clouds covered the setting sun, birds flew in circles above the beach with very little people. Though the music coming from the speakers seemed loud, it didn't overpower the sound of the pondering waves of the sea. They splashed repeatedly against the shore, making the beach and the sea merge to one. Beyond the shore were families, it was almost a gala including the people sunbathing despite all the noise.
Out in the far distance, a thirteen year-old with shoulder length charcoal hair stood, a bucket brimmed with sand in her hand. She wore a never-diminishing smile as she gingerly placed down the bucket and plopped herself on the coarse grungy beach towel. Her blue and white suit brought out her tan and her bright yellow flip flops that were held together with duct tape didn't support the thong between the toes.
"There, it should stay in place." She said, looking at the sand castle that she had just finished making. She slowly turned to her parents, who much to her surprise had left her all alone on the beach. This was extremely unusual for her overprotective parents to do.
She stood up, picking up the bucket and shovel in her hands. She wrapped the towel around her waist and started walking to the driveway where she knew their car was parked. When she could not find the car, she started walking to where she knew she lived. Along the way, the sky had completely become a deep shade of violet. The sounds of owls were the only thing heard as she shivered from goosebumps that had formed on her skin. She wished that she had brought a sweater to keep her warm.
A bright light reflected and she squinted and covered her amethyst eyes.
"Ezra, is that you?" said a woman in a shimmering black dress that revealed too much for a young girl's innocent eyes. She was barefoot and no doubt drunk. The brunette women staggered and fell on the floor. Her phone scattered away to the side with a clank, its flashlight still shining. Ezra widened her eyes as saw her neighbour in front of her.
