As the clock struck 2 in the evening, the lecturer closed his book and packed up his bag. "Alright, remember that you guys will have a test next week so prepare well and don't forget your essay is to be on my desk this Friday," he reminded the students of his Advanced Biology class before shuffling out the door. Usually they would cheerfully say goodbye and huddle in groups to chat or decide a place to have lunch...but not today.
The students of the class were very close with each other. They were all friendly and sociable, though some remained quiet and reserved. At times when they need each other, they would pitch in, no matter how small their part of the deed would be...that included the silent flower-boy of the class, Lee Taemin.
As his classmates grouped up solemnly towards the crying girl, Taemin stood by the side, watching the others comfort their classmate. Taemin was not close to her –he was not to any of his classmates in particular, but he still had the heart to stand by to quietly give her his condolences. It was a sad day for her and Taemin knew that well; almost too well.
Taking his sight away from his crying classmate, Taemin began watching the little girl who was peeking from the open door of their lecture hall. She seemed hesitant to enter the room...not afraid, but definitely resisting a huge urge or so. She had a double ponytail and looked not more than around 6 years in age. But what Taemin noticed best about her was her incredibly pale skin...and the fact that she was almost transparent.
"S-She was so young...it is unfair! Why must she have that illness?! Why her??" his crying classmate cried out in between her sobs. Taemin saw the little girl flinch and he could see tears forming in her large sad eyes.
Letting out a sigh, Taemin moved through his classmates and approached the sobbing girl. The others gasped slightly as they gave way to Taemin –he was probably the quietest guy in the whole university. The caramel brown-haired boy placed a hand on the girl's shivering shoulder, shaking it slightly so that she faced him. The girl had a surprised look as well, despite her sobs and sniffles.
"You love your sister very much right?" Taemin began softly, earning a sad nod from his classmate, "Well, I believe she loves you just as much and I don't think she'd be happy seeing her sister being sad this way."
The girl sniffled once and said, "But she's gone...and she will never come back..."
"That may be true...but did you know? The ones you love will never leave you. Stay strong, because they would always be watching over you from the afterlife," Taemin smiled once and took a step backwards.
"I have to leave now but you have my sincerest condolences."
With the whole class simply staring at him in silence, Taemin went over to his desk, grabbed his bag and began making his way out of the door. Once outside in the corridor, Taemin slid the door close and was about to head out of the building when he felt the fabric of his blazer being pulled from behind.
He turned and looked down at the little pale girl, smiling brightly at him. "Thank you, oppa!" she said before running in the opposite direction, disappearing right when Taemin blinked.
