It's the first Friday of the school year and everyone wants to make weekend plans. Me, Arissa, and Jade decide to sit outside today and enjoy the late summer weather. I'm really gonna miss summer and all, but at least this school year seems a bit promising. We're finally considered upper class men and we're that much closer to finally getting out of here.
"So what do you guys wanna do this weekend?" Jade asks, taking a seat at one of the polished concrete tables.
"Not sure. I've been waiting for something to come up," Arissa begins.
She takes a seat next to Jade and I sit on the table itself, me facing them with my legs resting on the bench space between the two of them.
"Meaniiiing, that she's waiting for Aaron to invite her somewhere," I decipher, accepting the slap on my bare leg as we all laugh. She hates it when I mention his name out loud, especially since they aren't together yet. But the way they act around each other, you would've sworn they were a couple.
"Well speaking of the devil," Jade said like the grandma she is. I look up and see Aaron walking towards Arissa. He cuffs his hands over her eyes and leans his head down beside hers. He makes a popping sound with his lips. "Guess who," he smiles.
"Ugh, Aaron you're so corny," Arissa giggles under her breath. "Whatever. You know you like it," he laughs while wrapping his arms around her from behind.
He releases and sits down beside her. "Hope you guys don't mind us crashing you're little lunch thing," he says, barely sounding apologetic while putting his bag down and picking a fry off of Arissa's plate.
"Hey!" She screams, slapping his hand away. "Get your own food! And yes we do mind'" she crosses her arms, fighting to keep a smile off of her face.
Gosh they're so cute. I smile to myself and watch Jade's boyfriend Chris sit next to her.
A wave of loneliness falls over me for a brief second, thinking of how lucky they are to have guys who really care for them. Me on the other hand, I'm always stuck attracting the A-holes that don't give two cents about me and the overly sweet guys that I just never seem to like back. I always have the worst luck when it comes to guys.
"Mind if I sit up here with you?" a familiar voice hums in my ear. I shift my head over, seeing Trevor in the corner of my eye before I can even turn it completely around. "Oh hey," I say awkwardly, scooting over as if he didn't already have a lot of room to sit where he pleased. But he manages to still sit directly next to me, his leg propped up for his arm to rest and his back brushing my shoulder.
"Hey," he swivels his head back, flashing me the most perfect smile. I smile back in the goofiest fashion and make him laugh, turning his head to face the others.
For some reason my mind starts to drift. I wonder if he has a girlfriend. I mean, he doesn't act like it. But then again, he personality doesn't allow it. Out of all the guys on the basketball team, and yes he plays basketball, Trevor is the most flirtatious. But it's not like he approaches them, they magnate themselves to him like precious metals. Out of all the years I've... "known" him, I've only seen him with one girl, Arlasia Anderson, and they didn't end well...
"Hey, so you guys wanna hit up Trev's place tomorrow?" Chris offers, nudging his head towards Trevor as his arm rests around Jade's shoulder.
"All of us?" Arissa asks, looking at Aaron with a brightness in her eyes.
"Yea," Aaron bumps her shoulder. "You, me, Chris, Jade, Quinten, Avory, Charity, and Trevor."
My eyebrow rises and I poke Trevor in the side. He flinches with a chuckle. "Yea, my moms said its fine if I have a few friends over. We can all just chill in the den."
My whole demeanor lights up. "That sounds awesome! I'm down." I can't think of a better way to spend my weekend than with my closest friends... and Trevor.
"Yea I'm game," Arissa smiles.
"Count me in too," Jade adds.
"Aight then. A little get together at my house it is. My little brother leaves for a sleep over at four. Ya'll can come over around that time." he smiles, but as I look up I swear his eyes were glancing at me. And it made my stomach jump.
