A Not-So-Average Morning in the Lunar Household

I've never been happier to see sunlight pouring into my room.

The movie Tyrone and I watched last night definitely helped a little, but yet, I felt uneasy throughout my dreams and kept waking up, even though I can't distinctly remember what I was dreaming about.

I glance at Tyrone, who is still curled up with "khaipire" snuggling next to his face.

He looks like he feels safe, and for that, I am relieved.

I silently slip out of my bed, eager to consult with my mom.

I find her in the living room, sitting on the sofa with an asleep Rassler, who's head is resting in her lap.

I just stand next to the sofa at first, and my mom looks up at me excitedly.

"So, what did you boys get up to last night?" She wiggles her eyebrows, implying she means something else.

I stare at her, mortified.

"Mom! What do you mean!?"

"You know... you had the house to yourselves... could've been a nice opportunity."

"Mom!" I exclaim again, absolutely flabbergasted now. "We did nothing like that, we're not even dating!"

She hushes me, gesturing towards my dad.

"Okay, maybe I'm being a little too loud, but you're being ridiculous!" I whisper-yell.

My face feels so hot.

Hazel just laughs softly.

"What did you actually do?" She asks quietly.

"We went stargazing from my bedroom window and we borrowed dad's guitar and Tyrone played it and sang to me... oh, and then we went for a walk in the woods and almost died!" I exclaim as quietly as I can.

"What!?" Hazel asks protectively.

"Yeah... some crazy lady we ran into looked like she was about to murder Tyrone and I... but then a wolf came out of nowhere and... I don't know, probably killed her. We didn't stick around to find out."

"Khai that's-" Hazel cuts herself off. "What?"

"We're safe, it's fine." I say, almost regretting having mentioned that after all.

"Khai you should be more careful..." Hazel sighs, probably not even knowing what to say. "The wolf that saved you, what did it look like?" She asks curiously.

"It was pretty big and it was like a deep reddish brown- why are you concerned about what it looked like?" I ask.

"No reason. Sorry. I just worry when you tell me things like that." Hazel says, looking thoughtful. "But I suppose I can't shield you from everything, all of the time."

She's seems bothered by this, but she doesn't say anything else.

"I can handle myself. Kinda. Tyrone also makes me feel safe when he's around." I say. "When we got home we just locked the door and watched a movie and went to bed." I finish my story quickly.

My mom nods.

"Say, have you been having any more of those strange dreams, Khai?" My mom asks me.

I shake my head.

"They just... stopped happening?" She asks.

"Yes, isn't that a good thing?" I ask. "It was weird, it confused me."

Hazel nods.

"So you're feeling alright then?"

I hesitate.
