"Alright Khai, now as you have a little more control, you're going to rotate your hand so you can push his head away from you and downwards while you bring up your opposite knee."
Khai takes a moment to get his lefts and rights figured out, than does what Nora says.
I find it surprising but also impressive how every move makes it just a little harder for me to maintain my firm grasp on his wrist.
"Now as you have him pushed above your knee, put your restrained hand up and try to pull free while you push him. You'll notice Tyrone no longer has the power in the position."
Nora's not kidding, because in no time, my hand slips and I'm no longer holding him. But yet, my arm isn't free, and now Khai is the one controlling it as it's raised behind my back.
"Great work, Khai, but you're not done just yet. Now that your other arm is free again, bring your elbow down on his back-"
"What? I don't want to hurt him." Khai protests. "This is just hypothetical, we're just pretending..."
"I'm very aware, I never said you have to be aggressive about it." Nora chuckles.
"O-okay..." Khai replies before gently placing his elbow on my upper back.
"Now, in a non-hypothetical situation, this force would help you gain some momentum in pushing the offender to the ground. But regardless, you are the one in control now. So go ahead and push him away from you."
Khai hesitates, then softly pushes me away, causing me to roll over to the padded floor, landing on my back.
I smile up at Khai, then give him a little thumbs up to let him know he did good.
"Excellent, Khai! Now you've just bought yourself some time to flee the attacker and get help." Nora says proudly.
I get to my feet again, then pat his shoulder.
I can see that Khai seems pretty excited now, though he's trying to mask it.
I don't think he needs to, because I'm proud of him and he has reason to be in good spirits. It's a big and important step, especially for him.
"Alright, now that you've all seen a demonstration, I want you to pick a partner and try it for yourselves. I'll be walking around and watching, so if you need help with any of the steps, I can provide it."
Khai turns to me.
"Your turn, I guess." He says with a little smile. "Prepare to be attacked."
"Consider me prepared." I reply, but it's hardly the truth because Khai barely gives me a chance to reply before he quickly grabs my wrist.
"I'm gonna sacrifice you to my army of... frogs? Yes, frogs!" He says, feigning a determined, slightly dangerous voice.
"Oh, the ones you kidnapped when you were little? I don't think we have to script this." I say while chuckling and apparently still feeling a little flustered.
Khai laughs.
"Oh, who cares. We're having fun with this." He replies.
I figure that since he's so enthusiastic, I may as well join in.
"Well in that case... no, Mr. Frogman, I will not be living in a cardboard house today!" I recite while enacting the first step.
"Nooo my frogiesss! They need sustenance, you can't do this to me!"
I pause momentarily to laugh at his words.
"Sustenance? Have you considered flies... or whatever the heck frogs all eat?" I rotate my hand, preparing to push him away.
