Chapeter Three

I was getting fed up with this Ace guy. "What the hell do you mean? You called me here and don't even know why?! I'm going to soccer practice which I'm now late for thanks to you!"

Ace didn't look like the type of guy who let's you yell at him. It turns out that I was right. "Now hang on one minute! I came all the way to Earth to get you and you're not even going to come with me? Only few are able to even know of Agradon and you refuse to go? I don't even see why you were chosen."

Everytime this guy spoke, he confused me even more. "Chosen? Don't tell me that I'm some kind of karate master inside and I need to unlock my true potential or 'you're a wizard Heather' like a cliche movie."

"You haven't caught on yet? Well I have the honor of telling you that you, Heather Summons, are an angel. You were chosen from the council at birth to be a protector of good and the helpless. You are needed urgently at Agradon."

He must be on something. I turned and made a run for it, hoping I could make it to a public area. Somehow, Ace was standing at the door when I reached the bottom of the stairs. That wasn't possible though because there was only one set of stairs.

"How did you do that?" I asked.

"I told you,you are an angel. Your parents have left you clues." He pulled out a piece of paper from his jeans he was wearing. It was the note my parents had left me this morning.

"Did you go through my trash? When did you even have the time!" My mind was spinning with questions and my heart was pumping a mile a minute, just waiting for something to pop out and give me a heart attack. I was so close to fainting that I had to lean against the railing of the stairs.

"Your parents have tried to tell you. They call you angel. It's not a cute nickname, you actually are one. As for me, I'm not mortal either. I'm what they call a swifter. Not very catchy or as well known as an angel but it has it's perks."

I stood there staring at him and he grew tonlook uncomfortable. He finally spoke up after about three minutes.

"What are you doing?"

I carefully planned everything I wanted to say before I opened my mouth. "I was just thinking. I mean IF this stuff IS true, then why didn't I know it and why did you have me rush here? In fact, why are you telling me this and not my parents?"

"I will fill you in on our way. You agreed to come with me and angels don't lie." He winked while he said the last part. Come to think of it, I actually hadn't ever lied. Maybe twisted the truth but it was still the same thing.

Ace led me outside and around to the back of the house. He had a black motorcycle with silver chrome. It was honestly impressive and didn't seem to have a scratch. It wasn't a Harley but I wasn't a fan of the big company names. He saw me out of the corner of his eye drooling over the bike.

"That's not our ride. You can't even touch it. This baby's mine." That's when I finally noticed the garage. He pulled it open and inside was a 911 convertable porsche. It was black, black, and even more black. Even the tires were fully black and that included the chrome.

"I've always wanted a sports car! If that comes with the angel thing, I take back anything I might have said to decline the job!"

Ace just laughed at me and hopped in since the roof was down. I followed his lead and landed swiftly in the black leather seat. He reversed out of the garage and we traveled fairly quietly down the dirt road. After a while I turned on the music and the perfect song came on for how I felt. Macklemore's 'Can't Hold Us'. I rested my head against the side of the car and closed my eyes. The breeze felt so nice, better than it would've felt at soccer. I was comfortable and wished I could pause and remember this moment. I forgot Ace was there until I heard him ask "So, what do you want to know?"
