Chapter 3
"I hope it takes a long time to get to this Armagedon place cause-"
"Agradon. You're from Agradon. Well YOU'RE not from there but that's where most of us, in fact all of us grow up, but-"
"Ahem! As I was saying before you so rudely cut me off, I have alot of questions and you better have answered them before we get to ARGRADON. First off, how am I an angel? Ohh and is there a heaven and hell and vampires and unicorns and all that bullshit in fairy tales?"
Ace didn't reply so I looked over to him. He looked confused but slightly amused. I could tell he was trying to hold back laughing but he sucked at it because in a few seconds he broke out into a fit. I had to grab the wheel and steer so that we didn't drive off the road.
"Jesus Ace! Watch where you're driving. Better yet, keep driving if you have your foot on the gas! I have a better question. Who taught you how to drive?"
He stopped laughing and took the wheel. He didn't look so amused and returned back to his calm, boring state.
"No one. This is literally my first time driving a car. It's not that hard but like I tried to say earlier, all angels grew up in Agradon. That's what's so confusing about you. No angel has grown up outside of Agradon until now. You're one of a kind. Going back to the stupidest question in the world, no there is no heaven or hell or unicorns and 'other fairytale b.s.' but there are vampires."
I pondered over what he said and there was a strange silence. I saw Ace turn his head to see if I was fine. He caught me just in time to watch me ask my next question which I have to admit was pretty lame.
"What are real vampires like? Are they the teighlight kind where they glitter and burn, or like the old school ones that suck humans brains out and get stabbed?"
Ace just looked horrified. "You have a vivid imagination but calm down a bit. Neither of those are real and I suggest you start asking important questions because this is the only time you're going to get answers."
"Fine. When did you turn all serious on me? Whatever. I guess one thing I'm wondering is what is an angel? Like what do I do, why was I chosen?"
I peeked a glace over at him and he just sat there, staring at the road ahead. He didn't speak up for a couple minutes and I was starting to grow impatient. Just answer the freaking question already!
"Well let's start with how you were chosen. The council, which you will meet soon enough, is a group of 'magical creatures' who try to keep their worlds equal to each other and balance with Earth. They mean well but can come off insulting. Anyways, they choose 20 angels each year. Anyone from a newborn to a fifteen year old can be turned into an angel. Your mind starts to mature too rapidly after 15 so I guess thats why the age limit. Angels are picked based on three characteristics. Stregth, wisdom, and kindness. Obviously that means that there are three groups of angels. On Earth its more like there are three teams or clicks. The jocks with stregth, the nerd with brains, and...... well.....im not quite sure what you would consider the last one but you understand. Still following me here?"
I nod and smile a bit. I'm part of a secret team where there are others like me. I belong somewhere and I didn't even know it!
"You all have the same purpose despite your differences. You try to keep evil from getting into the world. As cheesy as it may sound. Some go undercover and stop bullying, others become guardians of certain people who need assistance. It really depends on your skill set and what is available. Kind of like a job. No you do not have a halo but you can get wings. The council are the only ones who can 'present' your wings. Basically you need to meet with them and figure out which group you're in and what you do before you actually get your wings. Your wings can blend into your back after. One important detail is that your wings will show which group you're in. Stregth gets black, wisom gets white, and kindness gets gold."
"So even angels are color coded?" I mentally laugh on how stupid even the idea of it is.
"You're missing the entire point. Did you even get what I was saying?"
"Yea yea. Im am angell, need to meet the council so I can get me color coded wings. Big deal. Let's get into something I wasnt to know now. But this is more interesting. You up for it?"
Ace looks at me with the stupidest smirk as if he knows what I would ask and can answer it in a hearbeat. "Shoot."
Cocky shit.
"What are swifters. Like are you guardians or demons. Or are you just message boys?"
This time it's me wearing the smirk amd Ace just looks in awe.then he processes I insulted him and get flustered.
"I'll let you know that we do so much more than you think. We get the extra bonus of protecting angels or even falling in love with one."
I have to admit this took me by surprise. Was he being serious right now? Cause he sure looked like it. I made the mistake of being curious and opening my stupid mouth.
"Have you fallen in love yet?"
"I think I just did."
