When You Meet Another Cutter

When you meet another cutter
You look into their eyes.
They're just as dead and dark as yours
And you can empathize.

When you meet another cutter
You see into their soul
It's empty space, and then you know
They too have lost control.

When you meet another cutter
Your faces are the same.
Both are lacking love and light
And filled with guilt and shame.

When you meet another cutter
You share your haunting past,
And how you wish that every breath
You breathe would be your last.

When you meet another cutter-
Though you know you shouldn't dare-
You lay your bare arm next to theirs
And silently compare.
