The sound of subway trains echoed through the station, practically ringing in the 21 year old's ears. She sighed as she leaned on the countertop of the small coffee shop in the train station. How she hated working this job, it was such a chore to her after all. But it didn't seem like she had a better choice, as the other jobs she applied for weren't very welcoming of her appearance. Truthfully, she was rather gorgeous with her curvy figure and pretty face, but her personality wasn't what you'd necessarily consider equally "pretty." She could intimate even the strongest person alive just from her glare, foreshadowing her rather unpleasant attitude. She simply wasn't outgoing or kind enough to be considered an ideal person to earn herself a job at other places, so here she was, forced to work part time in a crappy little coffee stall.
'Well, it's not that bad.' She gazed around the room at the few people who were here and sat at the seating provided, before turning her gaze at the door of the shop while trying to improve her current mood. 'I mean, I could've applied to work at that daycare, and have had to touch baby shit. That would've been fuckin awful.'
(RING RING MOTHA FUCKA IM A DOORBELL)
A small, rather thin and pale girl with obviously dyed light brown hair walked into the coffee shop, carrying a messenger bag decorated with what Sei believed were Pokemon. She walked up to the counter a bit nervously, as evident from her rather shakey self.
"Wow, it's super cold in here, hah." The girl said rather softly, making Sei wince at the fact she was going to be one of those customers; the silent and afraid to speak up types, oh boy.
"I'm sorry about that, I'll tell the manager the next time I get a chance." Sei spoke, her voice practically booming through the shop. "What can I get you?"
The girl looked at the menu that hung above Sei's head, staring for a few seconds before asking, "Uhm, can I get a medium Americano?"
Sei responded almost instantaneously. "Of course. For here or to go?"
"For here." The girl proceeded to walk over to an empty table with two chairs and sat down, putting her bag on the table and pulling out a laptop.
Sei didn't want to interrupt the obvious student but nonetheless had to as it was mandatory for her to ask. "Name?"
"Naomi." She muttered as she began typing away on the computer, clearly working on an important project.
'Naomi. That's a pretty cute-' Sei thought while she worked quickly: grabbing a medium cup, she poured a shot of espresso into it before grabbing one of the hot water kettles. Of course, she didn't do this part as flawlessly as before, and felt a burn from her index finger as she accidentally touched the metal exterior on accident while trying to get a hand on the handle. This interrupted her train of thought as she pulled back and shook her hand, muttering to herself a chorus of "FUCK," which piqued Naomi's interest and at the sight of the worker having an angry break down at the kettle made her giggle for a second before returning to her work. However, this wasn't without Sei noticing her laughter and now she felt her cheeks grow pink in embarrassment. It wasn't just the mishap that had occurred but it was the absolutely cute laughter of Naomi's that made Sei want to cry as she thought 'Bruh Im going to scream this chick has the cutest fucking laugh oh my god' She simply continued to pour the kettle's contents into the cup until it filled it to the top, the little whisps of smoke that arose from the cup gave the evident warning this could probably burn your tongue off if you tried to chug it. She grabbed a cover and put it over the cup, and left it on the countertop next to the straws, sugar, and napkins before shouting "Order for Naomi, one Americano."
Naomi stopped typing and got up, walking over to the counter and picking it up, but not before saying a simple "thank you" to Sei.
Sei eyed Naomi as she walked back to her seat. She wondered to herself, how long would Naomi stay here? Clearly she had to be here for a while from how focused she was on working on her project of some sort, but would that be a half hour or an hour? Or two? Realizing she was caring for this stranger for far too long, she turned her attention back to the front door and awaited further customers.
---(time lapse BTW)---
Three hours. She was there for three hours. Honestly, Sei didn't know what she was expecting. Clearly she was a college student like herself, so she needed the time, but three hours? God. God help this poor child she can't survive college like this.
Sei continues to slightly judge Naomi, while Naomi who had finished her third americano (that's right, she chugged three cups of coffee down. 'Lord help her.' Sei thought to herself.) slammed down her fist on the cheap wood table she sat at, standing up and shouting "ITS DONE!! H EL L YES!" Immediately she showed regret for blurting that out as she received judgey glances from the other customers who were also using up the free Wi-Fi.
Her face grew instantly pink and she proceeded to sit down awkwardly and muttered "S-sorry," as everyone resumed their business.
Sei snorted at that, but covered it up with a cough and continued waiting for another customer to walk in. However, instead she noticed Naomi get up, packing up her laptop and throwing her third cup into the garbage and picking up her bag, wrapping it around her shoulder. She walked over to the counter where Sei stood waiting and blushed slightly as Naomi put down a folded piece of paper and put some coins into the tip jar before running to leave and probably catch a train.
Sei stared at the note. Did she dare to read it? Was it even worth it? Why the hell would she write her a note anyway? So many questions, so little time. She shrugged, figuring "yolo" and took the note in her hands and opened it to read that it said "thank you for making me those three americanos! I'm so sorry about that! Hope you have a nice day!"
Internally, she was crying, because she came to the realization of 'holy fucking shit, this girl is so precious what the fuck."
And now she'd never see her again.
"Fuck. I fucked up. I fucked up so hard."
