The next day was filled with tension. Tension between Audrey and Susan, tension between John and Ringo, tension between Audrey and Ringo. Filming went from being light and fun to being difficult and tedious. Ringo and John played to the camera as if nothing was wrong, but once the cameras were off, Ringo would distance himself from the others. He hardly looked at anyone, turning his attention to a magazine or newspaper.
Just as with John, Audrey's concerned regarding what had happened last night was with Ringo, but during lunch, Susan made enough backhanded remarks that Audrey finally reacted.
"Why don't you just say it out in the open, Susan?" Audrey sighed putting her fork down and looking at the girls at the table. "Instead of dancing circles around it?"
Susan looked a bit shocked that Audrey had confronted her about this in front of Pattie and Prudence.
"Look...what happened with John last night...it didn't mean anything. It was just a kiss." she said with a lightness in her tone that annoyed Susan.
"But you know I like him!" Susan complained.
"So does a million other girls! So what? He's a Beatle. Anyone in my situation would have reacted the same way. Or are you telling me if Paul or George or Ringo kissed you, you wouldn't kiss them back?"
"So you wouldn't mind if I went up to Ringo and just kissed him?" Susan replied.
"Listen...you can do whatever you'd like...Just because we somehow seemed to have 'paired off' with a particular Beatle when we're all out doesn't mean anything. We're nothing special to either one of them. We're just here to film a movie...have a good time and if there's a few exchanged kisses between us and a Beatle, so be it. It's not as if one of us is going to end up marrying one of them. Especially not John. In case, you've forgotten, he's married...so stop acting like I've somehow stolen him from you."
Susan looked at both Pattie and Prudence for support, but she didn't get it from either one of them.
"She's right, Susan." Prudence said softly.
Susan looked at Prudence, hardly believing she was taking Audrey's side.
"Just because we go out with them sometimes doesn't mean we're in a relationship...we should just enjoy the fact that we're here and..." she trailed off.
"And what?" Susan asked.
"Well...Audrey's right...if any of the Beatles kissed me, I'd kiss them back." she said meekly. "It wouldn't matter which one it was..."
"Me too." Pattie added softly.
Susan stood up, clearly frustrated with the conversation. "I've lost my appetite." she said upset.
There were a few moments of silence after Susan had gone before Audrey spoke again.
"I'm sorry I ruined lunch, but I just couldn't keep quiet any longer. Every remark out of Susan's mouth was an insult directed at me." Audrey said apologetically.
"Don't worry about it too much, Audrey...she'll get over it as soon as she realizes you're right." Prudence smiled. "Paul's my favorite, but if John tried to kiss me, I wouldn't reject him."
Both Pattie and Audrey laughed as Prudence began blushing.
"I don't think you have to worry about George..." Audrey said looking at Pattie. "I don't think he has eyes for anyone but you."
It was now Pattie's turn to blush and Prudence and Audrey couldn't help but laugh.
"We've already kissed." she said softly. "And it was wonderful." she smiled widely.
