Throughout the day, I got sideways looks from the girls, constantly asked about my outfit, and a double glance from the boys. This attention was mainly coming from the fact I was brand new.

I couldn’t help but watch the boy they called Christopher Monroe’s every movement. How his muscles would flex as he would draw amazingly detailed pictures on animals, monsters, and caves. I would be discreet about my staring, only watch out of the corner of my eye, glance out the ‘window’.

I felt the strange urge to reach out and feel his rippling muscles, my heart was pounding in my ears, and I quickly diverted my attention else where, forcing myself to focus on the teacher.

I tried to divulge myself into the class work, which was relatively simple. It was just short answer questions on chapter two in the book, ‘Anthem’ by Ayn Rand.

I was finished within ten minutes, with only five minutes to spare. I felt the agonizing nerves flutter in the pit of my stomach.

Christopher was finished first. I glanced at his hand writing and saw he had written in perfect manuscript cursive.

I tried to ignore his existence, he wasn’t even doing anything and I was so nervous I felt nauseous.

Why was he so familiar?! I could feel the déjà vu gnawing away at my insides. Like I should know who he is.

Finally the bell rang, and I all but ran out of the room. Mrs. Meachem handed me my slip back, signed, and I bolted out of the classroom, down the flight of stairs and quickly opened my locker.

I tossed my books and binder in it messily, which is extremely unlike me, andpicked up my next books and sped off to my next class.

“GROUP PROJECTS!” Sims announced. Everyone brightened up at the thought of working together. I was sat next to this pretty girl with red hair, fair ivory skin, and gorgeous amber eyes, with sparks and flecks of green, brown, blue, and purple. She was gorgeous, though I didn’t know her name, she was quiet, sweet, and-well, that’s about all I could gather at this point. “CHOOSE AN AMERICAN STATE AND DO A THOROUGH REPORT ON IT! I WANT PICTURES ON A POSTERBOARD, 3 ACTIVITES, 3 MAJOR FESTIVALS OR EVENTS, FOOT BALL GAMES, BASKET BALL, ETC. I NEED THE CAPITOL, IMPORTANT HISTORY, LANDMARKS. I NEED A PAPER ALSO SAYING WHO DID WHAT FOR THIS PROJECT.”

“Lakyn and Marcy. Brad and Jason. Clarke and Cameron,” He listed off the two person groups. “Christopher and Linus,” Seriously?! He’s in this class, too?! “-and Lyrike and Alessandra,” He finished turning around to go to back to his desk.

“Uh, Alexandria, sir.” I corrected. He waved me off, logging into his laptop.

“What ever, Alexis.” He stated dismissively, not really caring, or listening. I scowled at how immature this man was.

Jerk,

I thought sourly.

“Uh-Lexi?” A soft, timid voice asked quietly. I turned around and saw the pretty ginger girl was looking at me.

“Yes?”

“Uhm, my names Lyrike.” Oh, my partner.

“Oh, Hi!” I gave her a kind smile and bit her lip.

“Hello, uh-do you want to start working on the project?” She asked sweetly. I looked around the class room and noticed kids were already working on their projects. Half of them were just talking about random drama and irrelevant subjects.

My eyes found Christopher. He was laughing and goofing off with a cute boy who resembled him, I guessed he was Linus.

I blinked and turned back to Lyrike.
