I lined my eyes, creating a sleek wing at both ends and I nodded at myself approvingly. School had ended but two days ago and it was already party central. I stepped into the short black sequined number I had at the back of my closet and stepped into my pumps. I heard my phone across the room so I quickly walked over to where it was charging. My ride was here. I threw my phone into my clutch and made my way down the stairs. "Bye mom." My mom waved me off, "keep an eye on Eric and don't get into trouble." I rolled my eyes, "sure mom." My seventeen year old twin brother didn't need me to watch him. I got into the front seat of the car kissing my boyfriend, Nick, passionately. Meredith and Allison protested in the back seat, "chill Emerald, there are other people here too." I rolled my eyes at my two best friends and the car started to move towards our destination. When we got out of the car, the air reeked of teenage stench; beer, cigarettes, weed. And the music was so loud you could hear it down the block. We walked through the open door and greeted some people that we saw. I immediately grabbed a drink and made my way to the backyard of the house. I analyzed what I saw; people smoking, drinking, hooking up. Normal highschool party. Someone caught my eye. A girl with long hair darker than the night and Ruby red lips was lighting up a cigarette towards the back of the yard. She was gorgeous. Watching her felt like slow motion. Like we were the only two people there. I sighed and began walking towards where she was in hopes that she'd notice me. Why was I acting like this, I had a boyfriend and I was straight. As planned, the mysterious dark haired girl noticed me. She looked directly into my face and shrugged, "want one?" I pushed my hair behind my ear, blushing a bright pink, "huh?" She tapped the cigarette with an eyebrow raised. I chuckled, "oh uh yea sure." She pulled a pack of cigarettes out of her jacket pocket and handed me one. I put it up to my lips, letting her light it. There was a moment where we seemed to stare into each others eyes. Hers were a gray that was filled with such life and mystery, not the slightest bit of dull. I inhaled and exhaled and she did the same, "Well I'm Jade." I smiled my small, closed mouth smile, "Emerald." She smirked, "how ironic." We talked a bit more and then decided we were going to go back into the house to dance a little bit. As soon as I got into the house, I bumped into Meredith. "Hey where have you been?" I shrugged, "smoking. Mingling." She shrugged and walked off to find more drinks. Jade took my hand, leading me towards where the music was playing and my heart rate picked up. We were really close, nearly touching, moving around to the extremely loud song that was playing. She was so perfect- The way she moved. Everything. I stopped moving to watch her, she was so into what she was doing and it was like watching art being created. All of a sudden I felt someone grab my hips and start grinding into my ass. Nick. He ruined my moment. Jade looked at me puzzled, "I thought you were-" I shook my head. She looked disappointed and awkward, watching my boyfriend seemingly violate me. She started to walk away and I wanted to pull her back. But how was I supposed to explain myself to Nick? To anyone? I didn't even know why I cared so much.
