After "dancing" with Nick for a while, I went off to find a drink. I was hoping that I could find Jade and explain myself to her. But what was I supposed to say? "I have a boyfriend but you're making me feel a type of way and I don't know what to do?" I'd sound like an asshole and I didn't want her to think less of me. I grabbed a beer in the kitchen and sipped thoughtfully. Almost immediately, Nick made his way into the kitchen slithering towards me like some kind of snake. He wrapped his strong arms around my waist, hot lips near my ear. "Do you want to go upstairs... There are tons of empty rooms up there..." He trailed off. I pushed him off of me, "no Nick this is a party." He scoffed at me, "Like that's stopped you before." I looked at him disgusted, I couldn't tell him I was feeling weird so being an asshole seemed to be the only thing that would make him leave me alone. He looked at me, confused, "What's gotten into you Emerald? You're being fucking weird tonight. What? Do you want to break up?" I sighed, closing my eyes, "No Nick. I'm just... Not feeling well." He shrugged at me, "whatever " and walked away. I journeyed out of the kitchen back outside to where I'd seen Jade. She wasn't there this time. I sat down, rubbing at my eye. This was so stressful, why was I getting worked up over something so stupid. I just met this girl and for some reason I was acting like a different person. I stood up from the chair I had been in, maybe if I went back inside, messed around with Nick and got drunk or whatever I'd forget about my Jade thoughts. On my way inside, I bumped straight into Jade. She narrowed her eyes at me, "okay what was that?" I pushed my hair behind my ear like I normally did when I got nervous, "my boyfriend." Jade still looked confused, "He seems like a total dick." I shook my head, "he's a really good guy." She pushed past me, "I don't think this 'really good guy' is what you need." I rolled my eyes, what was that supposed to mean? The mysterious stranger shouldn't be telling me who I can and can't date. I watched her sit on the couch, eyeing the people who were dancing. I scanned the group of people until I found Nick. I came up behind him, my lips making contact with his neck and he turned around, winking, "feeling better?" I looked over at where Jade was sitting and I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Uh huh." He kissed my lips hard and the split second I had my eyes open, I noticed the disappointment clear on Jade's face. But I was sure I made the right decision.
