My Secret?

When the next morning came, a policeman arrived at the door. Kelly had already begun to talk about my actions and I didn't have a chance to defend myself yet, so I was ready to let loose. I mean, it was Saturday and I want to go out and not have anyone putting boundaries on me yet.

'Good morning, officer,' Kelly's voice is bright as I munch on my cereal. Dan and James are in the kitchen as well and had already invited me to go to the park, which I had already accepted. Apparently, Will is on the football team and Cason on the soccer team so I won't be seeing them until dinner time.

'Hello, Mrs Reed. I'm here to see Miss Mason, if that's okay?' It's the same police officer as before, with a moustache that is a dark brown and a receding hair line.

'Oh, yes, Nelson that's fine. Actually, I was just talking to Clara about her actions and the punishments we will be taking out because of her fight with my son, Cason.'

They walk into the kitchen and the twins smile as me before leaving the room with Misty hot on their tails.

I sigh and put my bowl in the sink before returning to the counter. 'I really don't know why this is necessary,' I shrug. 'I know where this is going. Your going to give me detentions, tell me I'm not allowed to speak with Hailey and then go on about how you are "trying to help me". I know, okay?'

The police officer, Nelson, seems amused by my rant. 'No, Miss Mason, we're not doing that today.'

'We aren't?' Kelly is taken aback and I smile at her shock. She must've really wanted to punish me for hurting Cason's nose.

'I had a call from an anonymous person in your school. They said that you were being provoked and teased by Cason and his girlfriend Olivia all week. They said they called you names and tripped you up. Am I right?'

'Yes,' I reply. Someone has tried to defend me?

'The caller told me that talked about your home life and I understand you are extremely sensitive about that subject. So, even though we will punish you, it will not be as harsh.'

'Will I be able to speak to Hailey?' I ask hopefully, my eyes going wide. The police officer nods and I jump into the air. 'A phone, I need a phone.'

'You'll have to come to the station to take the phone call, but since we are closed today you'll have to come tomorrow. Is that okay?'

'Yes, thank you,' I reply. I can't believe I will be able to talk to Hailey. This is the best news I've received all month. Who is the caller that got me out of being in serious trouble? Was it Josie? Luke? Whoever it was I need to find out.

'But, you'll still have detention everyday for the next two weeks after school.' Kelly sends me a stern look and I shrug it off, grabbing my bag from underneath me.

'If that's what you wanted, I'm going to the park with Dan and James. I'll probably see you soon.' Before anyone could say anything, I tailed it out and grab Dan and James, running out to the park.

'I thought you were taking me to the park?' I whine.

'This is a park, it's occupied by our soccer team at the moment,' Dan explains, sitting down on the grass to watch. I'm still getting used to the term soccer and football.

I plop down next to him, 'then why are we here?' I ask, laying down. It's pretty hot today so I'm hoping on tanning.

'Dan loves soccer. He can't wait to be on the high school team when we become freshmen next year,' James explains, marking the page in his book. 'I just come because it's a good place to read.'
