Zayn shuts the light off from the bathroom and finally makes his way downstairs. He rubs at his eyes and yawns, because he hardly slept last night. He had so much trouble sleeping he spent practically the whole night on his social media apps. His eyes are killing him now, after being in the dark with just his bright cell phone screen on.

When he gets downstairs, the familiar scent of pancakes fill his nostrils, yet his stomach doesn't react. He's met with the sight of a shirtless Liam at the oven flipping what looks like blueberry pancakes.

"Hi." Zayn mumbles as he steps away from the wall and finally makes his presence known, scaring Liam in the process.

"Baby, you're up."

Zayn hums as he opens the fridge to get a bottled water, downing almost half of it in the first sip.

"I'm suppose to bring you breakfast in bed today." Liam whines, turning off the oven before he turns around and wraps Zayn in a loose hug, kissing his wet hair.

"Happy birthday, beautiful." Liam murmurs, stepping back so he can smile big at Zayn.

Zayn lets out a soft groan, "Don't remind me."

Liam snorts, "Of course I'm going to remind you, I have lots planned for today. It's going to be the best birthday ever, ever."

Zayn rolls his eyes and pouts up at his husband, "What exactly do you have planned?"

"As if I'd tell you."

Liam steps away from Zayn to finish getting their breakfast plates set up, while Zayn's stomach churns at all the food Liam's prepared for them.

"I don't want to do to much, Liam. I'm tired and-"

"Shhh. None of this I'm tired business. It's your birthday baby and I want to spoil you okay?"

Zayn frowns at Liam's statement. It's not like he isn't grateful his husband was kind enough to go above and beyond and plan the day for Zayn, but he can't help it. He really is tired and after getting zero to no sleep last night, he'd just rather stay home.

He's been feeling like a hermit ever since getting back home from spending Christmas in London. He didn't want to do anything on New Years, so he and Liam opted on watching the ball drop in bed with boxes and boxes of take out surrounding them.

"You go sit at the table and I'll be right out with all your food, your majesty." Liam states, bowing down and chuckling when Zayn rolls his eyes and snorts.

"You're ridiculous." Zayn mumbles as he makes his way into the dining room and taking a seat.

"Alright princess, I've got your breakfast right here." Liam calls out, setting the big plate filled with food directly in front of Zayn.

Zayn looks down at all the food and already knows he won't be able to eat all of it, which makes him sad because he really doesn't want to hurt Liam's feeling for not eating his food.

He waits for Liam to get back with his own plate before he takes a small bite out of the pancake. He smiles and throws a thumbs up to Liam who's grinning at him.

He listens carefully as Liam talks, though his husband does not say a peep about what he has planned for today. He manages to finish one whole pancake and a hash-brown just as Liam finishes every last crumb on his plate.

"You alright? Was the food not good?" Liam asks when his eyes finally focus on the way Zayn's plate is still pretty full.

"The food was great Li, promise. I just- I'm not really hungry right now." Zayn says, sending Liam a reassuring smile when his husband frowns.
