I Miss You

Chapter 1

One year later

It's been a full year now. I'm starting seventh grade, and Cassidy is starting high school. We were both diagnosed with depression. Cassidy's got it slightly worse than me. We've both been self harming. I was bored so I went to a park across the street while Cassidy looked for binders online. We were home alone because mom was at work. I was at the park for about an hour before some scary looking guy came over and started swinging. I got up and ran home because kidnapping was frequent in our area. When I got home I called Cassidy's name, telling her I was home. But it was silent. I ran into the computer room, but she was gone. I ran to her room only to find her hanging from her ceiling fan. I screamed and ran to call 911. "911 what's your emergency?" The dispatcher asked. "HELP ME PLEASE MY SISTER COMMITTED SUICIDE!!!" I screamed into the phone. "Miss, you need to calm down. What's your address?" The dispatcher said. "444 Willow Way." I said. I hung up and called mom. "Taylor, what's wrong?" Mom asked when she heard me crying. "Mom, Cassidy committed suicide." I said. "WHAT?!! HOW LONG AGO?!!" Mom asked. "I-i don't know!" I sobbed. "I came home from the park and found her hanging from her ceiling fan!" I heard sirens and told mom the police had arrived before hanging up. Paramedics and police officers ran in and took Cassidy off the ropes. "Based on her skin color, I'd say she's been dead for about an hour." A paramedic said. "B-but you have to revive her!" I sobbed. "I'm sorry sweetie, it's too late." A female paramedic said gently. "NO YOU HAVE TO TRY PLEASE I CAN'T LOSE HER!!!" I sobbed. An officer took me out of Cassidy's room and the paramedics took her off the ropes, setting her on a stretcher. They covered her body with a sheet. Mom arrived just as the ambulance was about to leave. She started screaming at the paramedics, begging them to revive her. I was sitting on the porch, sobbing while this was happening. Mom eventually gave up and joined me on the porch. I guess dad must've seen the ambulance from his house, which was only a couple blocks away. When he saw Cassidy, he dropped to his knees, a mixed look of shock and sadness on his face. The paramedics finally drove away and mom and I just stayed on the porch. "This is all my fault!" I sobbed. "I-i never should've left!!" "Baby girl, there's nothing you could done." Mom said. Dad sat on the porch and hugged me. By now, a small crowd had gathered. I noticed the guy from the park and realized he was looking directly at me. I simply buried my face into mom's chest as dad stood up. "HEY GET AWAY FROM CRYSTAL'S HOUSE!!" He yelled at the crowd. Everyone left after that and the three of us went into the house. I entered Cassidy's room, trying to find clues as to why Cassidy did this. After a few minutes of searching, I found a letter.

Dear Taylor, mom, and dad
I'm so sorry to do this. But I simply can't handle life any longer. Please don't hate me. I'm in heaven now. Nana's with me. I'll miss you lots. Taylor, I have an early birthday gift for you. :-) I love you guys so much.

After reading this, I began to cry, and realized that there was a small package next to where I'd found the letter. I opened the package slowly and found several things inside. The first was a t-shirt. It had a picture of Cassidy and I flexing pretend muscles when I was five and she was seven. It had a caption that read "and our muscles were bulging all over de place" I chuckled. "Swoozie." I muttered. He was our favorite youtuber. There was also a Black Veil Brides C.D. and a large stuffed lion I had lent her a few years back. I grabbed the things and walked back out to the living room, handing the letter to my parents. We all went out to eat and when mom and I got home, I went straight to bed.
