Jeongyeon has never been happier.
Genuinely, if someone had asked her how her life was going for the past few months, she would have only one reply.
Amazing.
Because it was. Amazing, she had finally finished her degree and opened up a restaurant in her own name, pursuing her childhood dreams. The restaurant actually took off pretty quickly, getting popular and filling up almost every night during supper time.
She was done with school and finally pursuing her dream career and, sure, that was pretty awesome, Jeongyeon would admit it.
However, the absolute perfect, most beautiful and bright red cherry on top was the fact that she was so, so deeply and irrevocably in love with a walking, talking Goddess.
They had met at a bar, late at night. One of the nights when Jihyo dragged her away from her couch to try and meet someone—"You never know who is out there!"--just to leave her at the bar, looking very lonely and definitely pathetic, to go dance with one of her girlfriends.
Jeongyeon remembers the exact moment she had turned her head, and seen the most beautiful girl in the world to her left, seemingly in the same position as her. She also, very vividly, remembers staring at the girl, taking in her perfect hair--slicked back into a high ponytail--and the beige denim jacket that sat over a plain white shirt, paired with simple blue jeans.
She remembers making eye contact and feeling her face heat up at the smug smile that spread across the tall girl's face, remembers the way her mouth opened before quickly shutting, as a shorter, very tattooed, girl with bleached-dyed hair and black roots, appeared at her side, dressed in a short, black dress and a wide smile as she spoke—more like yelled—into the girl's ear.
Mystery Girl—a term Nayeon had coined the day after—had glanced back at Jeongyeon multiple times, her eyes running up and down her body, making her feel slightly insecure about her choice of clothes that night, before throwing a final wink her way and walking out with the tattooed girl and another short girl with black hair and perfect teeth.
Jihyo had called her crazy, when telling her about this Mystery Girl™ a few days later.
"I can't get her out of my head, 'hyo." Jeongyeon said, throwing a glance at the stovetop without a single falter in her knife as she cut up vegetables.
"I think you're crazy." The shorter girl said, resting her head in her palm as she watched the older girl's back.
Jeongyeon huffed out a half-laugh, having predicted that she would say that.
"I know, but it's just. . . I don't know. There was something there. A look."
"A look?" Jihyo said, tone almost mocking as she repeated the word.
