If Only:A Descendants Story

Chapter 3:

Ben's parents are overjoyed when they hear the news. All they can do is tell me how good of a queen I will make and that Auradon is lucky to have me.

Ben walks me to my first class,kisses my cheek and leaves. He has a meeting with Prince Charming and Prince Phillip.

I walk into art,which I have with Jay,Audrey,and Lonnie.

I plop down on the stool beside Jay and see him doodling Lonnie...again.

"You know you could just ask her out." I whisper in his ear.

Jay playfully shoves me."I'll do what I want." He teases.

I smirk."Anything's better than secretly drawing her."

Jay rolls his eyes."We can't all spell the people we like now can we?"

"It washed off in the Enchanted Lake." I retort.

Jay laughs."So what'd old Benny boo want?"

I hesitate.

Should I tell Jay yet?

I take his paper and pencil from him,and write quickly:He asked me to be queen.

I pass it back to him shakily.

Jay reads it.His eyes widen and jaw drops. He begins to write back and passes it to me

'What?!'

'Yeah.Please don't say anything'

'I won't BUT THATS HUGE!'

I'm fixing to respond,but the bell rings and I quickly fold up the paper,putting it in Jay's bag.

I simply nod as Mrs.Rapunzel walks in.

Art goes by slowly and Jay tries to get more information out of me as we walk to our next class,but I tell him that he'll find out soon enough.

Lunch rolls around and we head outside to the courtyard to eat our sandwiches.

I sit beside Carlos at the picnic table,where I take a large bite of my PB&J.

I'm starving!

"Is Ben not joining us?" Evie asks after she chews up her food. 

I shrug."I haven't seen him since this morning."

She nods.

I feel Jay kicking my foot,signaling that I should tell the others,but I kick him back really hard signaling to leave me alone.

Jay just rolls his eyes and says."Everyone,Mal has something she'd like to tell you."

I glare at him while Carlos,Evie and Evie's boyfriend Doug look at me expectantly.

As I open my mouth to speak,I'm interrupted by Ben's voice echoing through a microphone.

"If I could have your attention please."

Everyone stops eating and our eyes focus on him. His eyes locking with mine.

"I have an announcement."He says not breaking our gaze.

"As you all know,the laws of Auradon are very clear when it comes to royalty. And with much consideration,I have chosen the young woman who will stand by my side and gracefully rule our land."

We can hear one another's heartbeats as we wait to hear the name.

My name.

Ben's eyes search mine as I stand and slowly walk to him.

He stretches out his hand,and our fingers lock.

"Everyone,I am proud to present your new queen."

I squeeze Ben's hand as I look out at our classmates.

No response.

Just dead silent.
