Chapter 15

Recap...

“Where are we going?” I asked as we started to walk down the street, my stomach grumbled loudly and my cheeks reddened with embarrassment. Taking my phone out of my cardie pocket I look at the time and realise its three fourtyfive in the afternoon and we hadn’t really eaten lunch, we were too busy cleaning me up; No wonder I was hungry!

“You will see, and by the sounds of your stomach I know you will like it” with a mischievous grin he wrapped his arm around my waist pulling me into his side as we wandered down the street.

Looking over at Nathan on the other side of the booth, I realise just how nervous he is, his leg jiggles under the table, and he wears a tight smile that doesn’t reach his eyes.

“Nathan really its alright, it was their fault for double booking our table.” Nathan had booked a table at a nice, popular restaurant called ‘The Starfish’ by the sea, but the stupid people double booked our table and because the other people had booked that table first, we missed out; and because it was very popular the whole restaurant was booked out! We were now seated in a diner connected to a Tenpin Bowling Ally, waiting for our meals.

“Its just not how I want- ” cutting Nathan off I stare at him with my deadliest look,

“I am happy, why are you trying to ruin it by all this negativity...you are making me mad....you won’t like me when I'm mad...”

With this he burst out laughing, causing the only other people in the joint to stare at us with frowns at the outburst.

This caused me to giggle into my hands, trying my damnedest to hide it. Looking at Nathan I notice he was staring at me, his lips twitching and laugh lines around his eyes.

“Dotti...” Nathan said his voice downcast as he slowly took my hands from my face and held them gently on the table top.

“Yes Nathan?” I answer aware of his serious tone. Was he going to breakup with me? Was I too annoying? Bossy, grumpy, pathetic, clingy, stubborn?

“If...” he started looking down at our entwined hands, “If your wolf doesn’t show...and I'm not saying that it won’t, I'm just saying that...I will still love you.”

I felt a shiver run down my back at the mention of my absent wolf and his cuteness...

“Nathan can you tell me what she looked like” I said gulping back the emotions running through me, “If I can never shift and see what she looks like at least let me imagine”

His eyes shone with pity, “She, was the most beautiful I have ever seen, fur as white as snow, and soft like down feathers...” his eyes searched my face to see if I was getting upset and if to carry on, “Bloody small though ” he said with a laugh as he remembered. “She wasn’t much bigger than your average dog”

“What! That’s impossible, it cant be!” I didn’t know whether the shock of me being white or the shock of me being that small; werewolves were suppose to be three times the size of an average wolf not the same as an average dog!

“I kid you not, I picked you up and held you in my arms, you were beautiful.”

I gaped at him letting it all sink in, “How? Why was she white? I don’t understand only alp- ”
