It hit me like needles cutting into my back. Missing the bus and not having a car to drive sucks, its worse now that it's pouring cats and dogs. I guess that's what you get when the people you live with are as lazy as a pig, well they sure do eat like one. I kept trudging along the road until I saw a few houses that looked familiar. I sprinted as fast as my little legs could carry me not caring that my blond hair covered most of my vision.
I came to a halt in front of my driveway and slid my hair to the side tightly tucking it behind my ear. I strolled in swimming in my own shoes. I looked at the two people sloppily laying on the couch mentally stuck in there own little world, also known as the T.V. I stood in front of the door and coughed to get there attention.
As I expected no response. I slowly moved my way in front of the T.V. they both squeezed there eyebrows together and looked up at my now angry face.
"So did you guys forget about something, or someone?" They both had a guilty look on thier faces but my face was frozen at angry.
"Honey we are so sorry, we were so busy." Ha lie. They don't even have jobs. they sit around watching T.V. while I work my butt off.
"Doing what? Trying to see your toes? Why don't you both get off you lazy butts and help me by getting a job! I'm not even your daughter and you don't even treat me right! If my mom was here my life wouldn't be like this. Stuck with a couple of couch potatoes!" I didn't care what they would say next. I stormed up to my room. Tear formed in my eyes making it hard to see. I stumbled to the door to my room.
I flopped on my bed but got up and sat cross legged on the sheets and blankets. I glanced over at the little blue box lined with pink and purple roses. I blinked away the tears until the box was in clear sight. I reached for it and cracked it open a slit before flinging all the way open. A silver heart shaped locket was nicely set on at the bottom of the lavender cushion. My fingers trembled over the ice cold silver.
A few tears made their way down my cheek. I slowly lifted it open to reveal my mom and I on one side and my dad and I on the other. The last time I saw them was four years ago when I was twelve. Now my live is living off whatever I can find. Now I just can't stop the river of tears from flowing down my cheeks.
I calm down and sleep to the melody of my little music box. But not soon after what seems like an hour the suns rays blind my eyes through the slightest crack in the window shades. A day of no school no homework and new adventures. I look up at the ceiling and I could feel the sides of my lips pull themselves up.
Today was Saturday and the sun was shining bright. Just the right day to go for a hike in the mountains. I sat up and got ready for my long trip. I left the house without waking or telling anyone were I was going or when I would be back, I just left.
An hour or two passed and I was so far up the mountain that every step I toke the buildings started to look like specks. But farther up I went the more beautiful and magical the views were. I stopped in my tracks once I got to the top inhaling the nice but also chilly breath that made my blond beauty dance to the rhythm of the wind. I once again inhaled and took one last look before going back down the mountain.
I was walking along but I stopped at the sight of a hole or a cave in the side of the mountain. It was black but I could see the faintest of light. My mind drifted back and forth from should I see whats on the other side or just keep walking, But me being the curious person I am chose the first option. So I took the first step and just went on from there.
I was scared but I kept going. The light didn't seem as faint anymore. I stepping in the purple sun rays. wait purple? I looked far off in the distance to see jungle mixed with a little bit of forest. But the trees didn't look right. They were far from normal. There branches stood tall with the color blue lightly faded in with the lime green leafs. The bark or what would be bark were a sort of chess design. The weirdest thing was that they were almost floating off the ground. The roots all showed but only the tips were hidden in the brown soil that was layered in blue pink grass.
Were was I and why is everything so weird? The only thing normal was the sky. It was a lighter blue with clouds that look sharp and not fluffy like usual. I was about to go back but my thoughts trapped me in this little world I just discovered. Not only that but when I turned to leave the cave entrance was gone.
My feet shuffled around back at the untouched view. I started down the rocky ledge. Well now what? Do I just venture off hoping something doesn't eat me? I looked down and the tiny locket that hung from my neck. Oh god what do I do? I looked out in the distance.
"Well I guess I could try and climb one of the trees and hide out there until I find out how to get out of here." A said to no one in particular. I slowly walked into the woods or jungle but stopped when I heard a movement from somewhere. Somewhere close.
