~Anthony's POV~
I stood in front of the club room's balcony, examining it for tonight's endeavor. My case laid against a bookshelf in the corner of the room. Tonight would be a perfectly clear night so I decided to spend a few hours here to look at the stars. My parents were widely accepting of me staying out late as long as it was for my club activities. No one else was in the Astronomy club so I had the room to myself. Startled my the sound of the door opening, I turned around to see who had entered the room.
"So this is the Astronomy club's clubroom," he said looking around the room. I was shocked to see that the person who had entered the room was Steven. He looked over at me and gave me a smile like I was one of his close friends.
"What are you doing here?" I said slightly confused to his presence in this almost empty clubroom. No one really comes here except me and the club's adviser. He tilted his head to the side before answering my question.
"I became curious about the Astronomy club so I decided to come check it out." He giggled a little which made me narrow my eyes. I nodded my head at him, picked up my bags, and decided to leave. Before I could shut the door he grabbed it and followed me out. I walked down the stairs, him walking a little bit behind me. "So..," he started, "I notice you always sit alone at lunch, how about sitting with me and my friends today." I stopped in my tracks and turned to look at him. Was he joking? Did he find this some kind of funny joke? Without answering him I kept walking to my first hour class. I heard his footsteps follow shortly behind me, I guess he wasn't going to give up.
"I mean, you don't have to but I just think it can't be fun to always be alone." He's right, it's not fun, but it's better than being suffocated in an overly cheery atmosphere. I sighed knowing that if I didn't give him an answer he probably won't leave me alone.
"I'll.. think about it." He smiled at me and said goodbye before off to his classroom. I hadn't noticed till now but my nerves were going crazy. This was the first time since starting high school that some one had asked me that sort of question. Entering my classroom, I took a seat and pondered what kind of answer I should give him.
The bell rang indicating that 4th hour was over and 5th hour was going to start. Stretching, I got up from my chair and headed to the cafeteria for lunch. When I entered the building I remembered the conversation I had this morning, realizing I would have to give him an answer. Entering the line I got what I usually got for lunch, a cheeseburger with some fruit on the side. Entering the open are I noticed Steven leaning against a stone pillar like he was waiting for me. I tried to quickly leave but just before I could he had taken notice and walked over to me.
"Anthony, you going to sit with us?" He questioned while putting what looked to be his phone in his pocketed. Unable to deny him, mostly because my nerves had started to go crazy again, I nodded and followed him to where he usually sat. Sitting at the table were two guys and, to my surprise, no girls. The two guys had taken notice of us and gave Steven a questioning looked. Giving them an awkward smile he turned towards me.
"Guys this is Anthony, and Anthony the one on the left is John and next to him is Galm." Setting his phone on the table, Galm looked at Steven with a glare.
"I know who he is but why is he here?" Steven looked at him unable to give him an answer making it more awkward. I sighed and looked at Steven who seemed to be thinking.
"If you don't want me here I can leave." He looked at me shocked and shook his head.
"No, um well you see Anthony always sit alone and I thought it would be a good idea if he sat with us today." I saw Galm nod, I guess approving of what Steven had said. Steven took a seat in one of the chairs and I did the same taking a seat next to him. The rest of lunch went on with them talking while I just listened to their conversation. After lunch we said our goodbyes and headed to our classes to finish off the day.
Walking up the stairs I was happy school was finally done with. Noticing that the door to my clubroom was ajar, I wondered who would be in there. Walking in I saw Steven sitting in one of the bean bags with his eyes closed. Is he asleep?
"What are you doing?" I questioned making him open his eyes. He looked at me confused then realized who had spoken to him. Standing up he walked over to me with a smile on his face.
"I thought you might be coming back here so I decided to wait, since your case is still here." I raised an eyebrow and walked over to grab my case.
"Well if you don't have any business here then you need to leave, this place is only for Astronomy club members." He widened his eyes at me and smiled like he had a great idea.
"Well then if that's the case then," he grabbed something out of his pocket and handed it to me. It was a folded up piece of paper and upon unfolding it I was surprised at what it was. "I would like to join the Astronomy club." Still surprised I looked over the piece of paper seeing everything on there was valid. The room had grown silent and the smile that was once on his face had started to fade probably because he thought he would get rejected. Rubbing my neck, I folded the paper back up and set on an empty spot on the bookshelf next to me.
"I guess..I can't deny someone if they want to join." This club wasn't just my club so I had no right to deny him to become a member of the club. Walking over to the balcony, Steven watched me with confusion at what was going on.
"So when are club meetings and what do we usually do." Realization hit me when I remembered that this club doesn't have a set schedule. Now that a new member was in this club we are going to need something like that.
"Well since this club doesn't have a schedule we can meet regularly on Tuesdays. Also what I usually do is look at the stars and try to figure out constellations," I said starting to set up my telescope. The sun hadn't fully set but it was better to get things ready sooner than later. Steven nodded at me before telling me he had things to do so he couldn't stay. Spending the rest of the time looking at stars, I sighed when it was time I had to head home. Packing everything up, I locked the clubroom door and headed out of the school.
