~Anthony's POV~
It had been a week, a week since Steven joined the Astronomy club. Today was Tuesday meaning that the Astronomy club would meet today. Normally I wouldn't be nervous about this but it's the first time someone else was in the Astronomy club. Meetings always consisted of me sitting in one of the bean bags reading, waiting for nightfall so I could look at the stars. The club advisers was hardly ever present so I handled everything by myself. I hadn't talked to Steven since that day except for the times he would ask if I wanted to eat lunch with him and I would nervously oblige. Would he even show up?
Sitting in my desk I stare at the clock, 11:45. The hour was almost over meaning Lunch will be starting. Thinking about what I should do for lunch I looked around the classroom, the teacher sat at her desk while the other students did their assignments. Normally I would just sit with Steven like he would want me to but something had changed. Yesterday I was confronted by a group of 3 girls, the ones that always hung around Steven. They didn't take me hanging with Steven lately lightly and told me that it shouldn't happen. Normally I wouldn't let something like that bother me but I knew myself they were right.
When the bell rang I got up from my desk and left the room. Instead of heading to the cafeteria I headed to a secluded place behind the school. The place and a table like the ones at a park so I decided to spend my lunch hour there. It was a short walk made more difficult with the hallways being full of students. Once I reached the place I sat down on one side of the table and set my book bag on it. Taking my phone out of my pocket I unlocked it and decided to just browse around on websites.
As the hour passed I just played around on my phone. The breeze from the trees mad it feel slightly colder and I was happy to go back inside when the bell rang. I headed to my class wanted to get the last two hours done. The rest of the day seemed to go by slowly. Every time I thought ten minutes had past only a minute had really gone by. Hearing the final bell made me feel relieved but when I thought of my club nervousness filled my body. I reluctantly headed up the stairs to the club room hoping Steven wasn't there.
When I opened the door to the club room I froze where I stood. Steven was sitting in one of the bean bags like he had been waiting for me. As I closed the door, I set my book bag down next to it and saw Steven get up and walk over to me. Looking away from Steven I awkwardly put my hands in my pockets waiting for him to say something.
"Hey, why weren't you at lunch today, I was waiting for you?" He asked, his eyes staring straight at me. My mind was racing as i quickly thought up a lie to tell him.
"Uh, I had to go talk to a teacher and it took a long time," I said hoping he would by my lie. He nodded at me, thinking for a moment before walking back over to where he was sitting. He stood there for a moment before turning back towards me.
"Hey I saw this paper talking about a meteor shower viewing, are you going?" He held a folded up piece of paper in his hands and I easily recognized it. Hesitantly I grabbed the paper out of his hands and looked it over.
"I was thinking about going." I saw him smile at my answer before taking his phone out of his pocket.
"Why don't we go together, I mean you, me, John, and Galm." I stood there thinking for a moment before the memory of yesterday came back. I handed the paper back to him before taking a step back.
"I don't know if I can, I just..uh..have a lot of things going on." His smiled faded at the words I spoke. He lowered his hands from his phone and just looked at me sadly. Nervousness filled me as I rethought about what I said. "I mean, if you want to I could try to make some time as a club activity." A big smile appeared on his face as he went back to typing on his phone. Shortly after he handed me his phone. Confused at this I looked up at him.
"Enter your number so I can call you and make plans." Confused at the situation, I entered my number on his phone and handed it back to him. Happily, he started typing on his phone before I felt a buzzing in my pocket. I took my phone out to see I had one new message. "There's a text so you can save my number." I did just that and put my phone back in my pocket. The rest of the day went on with us talking about the club and club activities. This feeling that filled me made me feel happy and I wanted to keep this.
