Chapter 8
Louis' view
"No!! Why!! I didn't mean to!! It wasn't my fault!!" I woke up to hear Grace yelling this. She was tossing and turning in her sleep, having some kind of nightmare.
"But I didn't mean to!! It's wasn't my fault!! I'm sorry" she yelled hurt in her voice and tears streaming down her cheeks. I quickly sat up and set her in my lap cradling her.
"It's ok, it's ok. I'm here" I coed rocking her back and forth. Her eyes opened and she looked at me but tears continued to come out. "It's ok, I'm here" I reassured again pushing a kiss to the top of her head. She sobbed barring her head into my chest, slightly shaking. I lay down on my side and hold her close, with my chin on her head.
When she is calmed down and is motionless, except for steady breaths, I think she has finally went back to sleep. But when I pull away to look at her face she shifts and looks at me. Her eyes are red and puffy, sad and scared too.
"What happened?" I whisper in a hashed tone. She watches me as I search her eyes for some kind of answer.
"It-It was about my Dad-old Dad..." She whispered. "He was yelling at me because he said I killed my mom" she spoke her eyes never leaving mine.
"But you didn't kill her, I'm sure. It was just a bad dream." I assured, but she shook her head.
"No it happened, when I was born my mom got sick and died." she said saddly. "Ever since, my dad would yell at me and blame me for it" she sobbed again.
"Oh Honey, it's ok. It wasn't your fault, it was never your fault." I lay back down with her by my side, arms wrapped around my sad babygirl. "That happens sometimes-people get sick and sometimes pass after giving birth. I've heard it's hard and you have to be real strong."
"So my mom wasn't strong?" She asked sniffling.
"No i'm sure she was strong, but when your sick you feel weak it's hard... Remember when you were sick and we had to carry you and all you wanted to do was sleep?"
"Yeah" she nodded.
"Well thats probably how your mom felt...She felt sick and couldn't handle it, but.." I paused as she turned to look me in then eyes. "but she must have been a strong woman, just like you" she grinned at that comment.
"Yeah" she turned back around and closed her eyes. "Goodnight Louis"
"Goodnight Grace, I love you" I whispered kissing her head.
"Love you too..." She whispered falling asleep in her last word.
My heart felt warm, and I couldn't have been happier to have such a lovely girl in our family. I never want her to leave-or grow up!
Grace's view
~•Morning•~
I woke up to a loud crash and quickly jumped up. The space next to me was occupied by a Louis who also woke from the loud crash. He looked at me then listened for a second.
"Stay here" he spoke standing up and walking to the door of his room, grabbing a small bat on the way out.
He shushed me as he turned, out of my sight as I still sat in his bed. My heart beat faster and I found myself holding my breath. I was just focused on hearing what was happened down stairs when another crash happened. Then someone started yelling and the sound of dishes being thrown into the sink was heard. I cringed at the sound and quickly covered my ears. The yelling was muffled under my ears as I shook my head and refused to listen.
