The Promise

The Promise

We made a promise, a pact

Not to forget each other

Till the day we die

We cared for one another

So much, so much

We felt like this could last forever

And that time would freeze

‘Cause it’s you and me forever

Me and you, you and me

From Ice Cream to Zombie Invasions

All day we talked and laughed

Telling stories, making memories, and so much more

But time passed quickly and the day came

You and I must part

That day we renewed our promise

Our pact

But as time flew by the “we” became “me”

You met new friends and forgot the old ones

What’s worse, you forgot me

We made a promise, a pact

Now what’s happened?

There’s not a sliver of me in your mind

Memories of me to you are vague

You don’t remember me, no not anymore

So I was left behind

Under our special tree

Keeping the pact and the promise alive

‘Cause I haven’t forgotten

And I’ll be here for you

Forever
