Not surprisingly, the company jumped at Jordan's sudden interest in their offer. So, after a whirlwind week to get ready for the last minute interview on a Friday in Nashville, Jordan had finally arrived. When she told Will about her interview with the venue operator, Will had insisted she stay the weekend with him. He was in the last minute preparations of a nine-week tour in the states before kicking off his six-month international tour, but he was willing to work his schedule out to be able to spend these last few days with her before he left. Jordan hadn't even thought about his hectic schedule. All she could think about was being with him. She wanted to spend every moment learning all she could about this man who had been the first in a very long time to capture her attention and her heart. In spite of his superstar persona, he lived a very modest life. He lived in a small condo, in a very private neighborhood. She got to go out to dinner with him and meet a few of his closest friends. The three days were like heaven, but like all things, they had to come to an end. In spite of the late nights and many deep conversations, Jordan left with an uneasy feeling. What if he left on this long tour and forgot about her? What if she didn't get the job in Nashville? She didn't think a long-distance relationship could work, especially with his hectic travel schedule. Will was at the top of his game right now and he was in high demand. Even despite his assurances, Jordan still couldn't let herself leave those insecurities behind.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and ran her fingers through his hair. "What happens if I don't get this job?" she asked.
"Then you don't get the job," he said. "It doesn't change anything except logistics. Atlanta isn't that far from Nashville. When I get back, I'll come see you. Did you know I have a sister that lives in Savannah? I have connections to Georgia. You're not getting rid of me that easy. If I get a few free days somewhere in this nine weeks while I'm in the states, I'll fly to Atlanta and see you. It changes nothing. Can you trust me on this? I'd like to make this work between us. I'd like to see where it goes."
"I'm trying," she said. "I want to. But I've never had a relationship that ever came close to anything like this. You're Will Worthington, for Christ's sake."
"Then we'll work on it one day at a time. I'm not going to push you. I'm not going to make you do something you're not comfortable with. Yes, I have a lifestyle that most people would die to have, but no one realizes how hard it is. I can't be that boyfriend that most girls dream of. I want you to know it's not going to be easy," he matter of factly stated. He pulled her closer and took a deep breath. "We just met at a really inconvenient time. Right before a major tour isn't particularly ideal. But I think we can do this."
She shook her head as if to clear it of the negative thoughts that kept creeping up and reached up to kiss him one last time. "One day at a time. We'll see what happens after this first nine weeks. It will be our test."
"Ok, I'll take what I can get. I don't like leaving you like this. I want to know I'm going to have you here when I get back. But I understand and I don't want you to commit to something that you're not sure about."
"I think if I could get this job, then it would really seal the deal for me. I need concrete evidence. This is a huge step for me and my track record in relationships isn't actually stellar. They haven't worked out so good for me in the past."
"I wish you could take the leap of faith and trust me. But I understand. I'm leaving tomorrow. And that really makes things hard–when the guy that is asking you to trust him won't be here for nine weeks." He opened her car door for her, "Do you have everything?"
"Yes," she said sadly. "I have everything except you. I wish you weren't leaving. I wish...." she stopped herself before she got herself all worked up. "I need to go."
