Lily, still in her room, still grieving about the loss of her dear friend, decided that it might be a good idea to go to the spot where Alice and Nina met their doom and pay her respects. She knew she had been angry at Alice before, but she realized that if she was angry at anyone, it should be herself. After all, it had been her fault. If she had gone and stopped them, it could have saved their life. Pushing the thought of blame aside, she got dressed and headed out. She knew the building was just down the street, but she felt the need to ride her bike there. When she reached the house, she gaped. Police were everywhere. Every inch of the house, there was a policeman investigating. There was yellow tape with the words "crime scene" printed on it all the way around the house. 'Crime scene?' thought Lily, 'I thought their death was an accident?' At that moment, Lily spotted Jessica Leipen standing with her mother, who was speaking with a policeman. She was glancing around at the house when she noticed Lily, and at once rushed over to her. "Lily, did you hear? Alice and Nina were murdered last night. They didn't find the bodies 'till this morning and-" "I've heard," interrupted Lily. "Well," Jessica continued "My mother was talking to one of the policeman, and he says there was a knife covered in blood lying next to Alice, and I was on the phone with Millie Thompson, you know, from science? Well, she said the detective found a bullet lodged in Nina's head." Lily pictured the gruesome sight, and cringed. "So they were murdered? By who?" She could tell Jessica was not comfortable talking about the girls' death. Lily could understand, because Nina was Jessica's best friend since preschool. "No one's figured that part out yet. That's why the police are investigating this early. They're looking for signs of the murderer." Lily wanted to find out more about the death of Alice and Nina, and she knew there would be more about it on the news, so she said goodbye to Jessica and headed for home. Something inside her made her turn to look at the house. There, standing in the window, was a little girl's doll. It had long blonde hair and stared at Lily with its hollow eyes. Blood was smeared on the window to form these words:

Lily's first instinct was to scream. But instead she ran to her bike and pedaled, pedaled faster than ever, until she reached her home. She leaped off her bike, not bothering to put it in its rightful place in the garage, burst through the door, dashed up the stairs, and ran into her room and shut the door. The house was three stories high, and Lily was on the third level, so she could see almost the whole street. But she could definitely see the abandoned house. She could see the policeman walking around, investigating. She looked to the window, expecting to see the creepy doll looking at her. But it wasn't at the window. It was bent over, looking under a blanket. Two blankets. Then Lily realized what the blankets were for. They were covering Nina and Alice's bodies. The doll was looking underneath one of the blankets! Then it put the end of the blanket back down and began to poke the figure underneath with its small knife. Lily screamed so loud, her mother could hear the noise from the backyard where she was gardening. She ran down the stairs to her mother and urged her to come upstairs. "Mom, you have to come upstairs! Something weird is going on!" Her mother rolled her eyes "Lily, come on, now. Calm down. What's the matter?" Lily didn't have time to explain, so she grabbed her mother's arm and pulled her up the stairs behind her. When they reached her room, They looked out the window to the house, but the doll was nowhere to be seen. Just the two bodies under the blankets. "Oh, sweetie, I know you're sad, but let's try not to think about it, ok?" And she left. Lily felt stupid. She knew she couldn't have seen that. It was almost impossible. At that moment, she notices a folded piece of paper on her pillow, just like the one she had sat on before. It read:
Missed Me! Hahaha
Lily was angry this time, not frightened. She called out to no one in particular, "You don't scare me! If you say you're after me, well then...come get me!" Lily ripped the note up and threw it in her waste basket. Just as she turned around, she saw tiny bloody footprints coming from the window...
