Chapter Six

It was Christmas Eve and Rosie was eagerly waiting for the 25th. We haven't seen Hunter in two weeks which was kind of weird because he's always here so Rosie was a little upset because she thought he wouldn't be here for Christmas even though I knew he would. When the doorbell rang Rosie ran to open it, but was kind of upset when it was Meghan who came over for the one day Rosie hugged her then walked away "what's wrong with her" she asked "missing her father" I said clearing the table "he's not here" I sighed and shook my head wondering where he could be then there was a knock on the door. I opened it and saw Hunter I hugged him even though he had snow all over him, he came in took his coat off then snuck into the living room. All you heard was Rosie scream then laugh I looked at Meghan and we were both smiling as Hunter came back into the room with Rosie on his hip while one arm was wrapped around his neck. "Are you surprised" I asked her but all she did was wrap both arms around his neck then giggled. The whole night Rosie held on to Hunter like he was her most prized possession, but I thought it was cute. I kissed Rosie goodnight and Rosie gave Meghan a hug before Hunter took her upstairs for bed once he came back down we all started talking until Meghan and Hunter decided to go to bed. I stayed up for a while curled up on the couch then went to bed as I got into bed I felt someone next to me then I realized it was only Hunter who was only here because the guest room was being used by Meghan. We didn't think it was a big that we started dating, but we'll see what comes next.
The next morning I heard the door open then all of sudden someone starts bouncing on the bed "wake up, wake up, wake up it's Christmas and you can't be sleeping on Christmas" when I opened my eyes Rosie had her hands on her hips and a serious yet cute look on her face I looked at Hunter who was sitting up in bed and had tried to wake me up earlier. I smiled then pulled her towards me by the waist and started tickling her she started giggling then I stopped and kissed her nose. We stayed in bed for a while taking Christmas "selfies" with our phones then Rosie ran downstairs so I took a picture of me and Hunter when he buried his face in my stomach then we went downstairs and saw Rosie trying to reach into her stocking, but when she saw she quickly stopped and said "nothing". We laughed then Hunter held her up so she could reach she pulled out a small box and a tiara from Charming Charlie's, I asked her what's in the box she opened it the smiled it was a baby wolf necklace that had a tiny crystal as an eye. I looked at Hunter and he just shrugged with a smile across his face, he helped her put it on then she ran over to the tree there started looking for presents with her name on it. She ripped them open and got excited when she saw new clothes toys anything a four year old could really want. Then she handed me a present and Hunter a present after an hour all the presents had been opened so we decided to go ice skating once we got to the rink not that many people were there yet Hunter watched while I helped Rosie out and held her up. "There you go, you got it" I told her after a while she got the hang of it I let go and she was doing it by herself kind of falling a couple of times. I spun around and followed her around then as more people started to show up she got tired and went to sit with Hunter I got out after fifteen minutes. We walked around the mall and ran into Mandy once more "Hunter" she said in a surprised voice "hey Mandy" he said rolling his eyes her smile grew even bigger when she saw Rosie "who's this little cutie" she said "what do you want Mandy" he asked "nothing just here with my boyfriend Joshua" that's when a guy appeared next to her "hi" he greeted we both smiled and stood there for a couple seconds "well we have to go" I said grabbing his hand and pulling him away "wait" she called out "lets go get some lunch" she said I didn't want to be rude and it was Christmas so I agreed and went to Chilis. Hunter sat in front of Joshua, I sat in front of Mandy and Rosie sat between us, we all looked at each other while Rosie colored in the children's menu. It was awkward at first but them we started talking and got a little more comfortable around each other except for Mandy who just kept staring at the three of us the whole time. Once we ordered our food Rosie started get uncomfortable and complain then tears started to come down her face. "Okay, come here" I said, she scooted over and sat my lap placing her head in the crook of my neck, then I wiped her tears away while she calmed down "is she always like that" asked Mandy "only when she's tired, uncomfortable or wants to go home" I replied she looked at me then saw our food coming I asked the waiter if I could get her meal to go while we ate our food. After we finished our meal Rosie had fallen asleep so we decided to go home "thanks" we said before heading to the car. When we got home we sat on the couch with Rosie laying on top of us, my head on Hunter's shoulder and Hunter's arm around me. Rosie was right this was the best Christmas yet.
