"Don't forget I made that fitting appointment for you today," Anna reminded her best friend while preparing to hang up.

"My fever just broke last night, does this seriously have to be today?" Emily whined back, still feeling ill.

"Considering the wedding is in a week and a half, yes," Anna sighed as loud yelling in the background started to come over the phone line, "Look Em, my sister's here to fulfill her maid of honor duties. I've gotta go, have fun trying on your dress I think you'll love it."

"So much fun.." Emily muttered to herself as the phone call ended.

Emily had just gotten over the worst cold of her life. Chills, 104 fever, no voice, she had it all. She still felt like death, but some people think bridesmaid responsibilities are much more important than one's health. Reluctantly, she climbs out of bed and begins getting ready. Considering she's sick and will be changing anyways, Emily decided to wear gray workout leggings with a navy blue shirt that says "Love Made Me Do It" on the chest part, she did however remember a strapless bra for the stupid dress she'd have to try on. Once Emily was ready with no makeup and a messy bun, she grabbed her keys, slid on her converse and left. The drive from her apartment to the bridal shop wasn't long, but it was extended by her inability to find the quaint shop named "Something Old, Something New".

Something Old, Something New was a small little bridal boutique that Anna had found the dresses in. Emily was surprised at the wide selection when she walked in, as you can never find much in Grafton.

"Hello, welcome to Something Old, Something New! Is there something I can help you with?" A perky redhead asked from behind the front counter.

"Um yeah, I'm Emily Davis, I'm supposed to try on a dress under Anna Kell." Emily stood awkwardly, rocking back and forth on her feet. She still felt sick and couldn't stop sniffling, but this had to be done today.

"Oh of course! I hope you're feeling better, Anna was quite upset that you missed the first appointment!" It was way too early in the morning to deal with this much enthusiasm, so Emily just nodded. "I'll just send you on over to Michael, who works the floor, and he'll take you to the dress!"

"Okay, sounds great," Emily says as the redhead calls over some tall boy named Michael. Michael looks to be a bit over 6 feet tall and has grayish blue hair and an eyebrow piercing. He looks way out of place with his leather jacket and ripped jeans in this sweet shop full of dresses and accessories.

"Hey I'm Michael," he said in a husky Australian accent.

"Um yeah that's what the girl at the counter said, I'm Emily," I said with more and more sniffles in between my words, "There should be a dress for me under Anna.." I trailed off following Michael through the maze of racks.

"Yeah, I was wondering why there's been an extra dress back here," Michael said as we came to a back wall full of dresses with name labels. He pulled the one marked Anna off the wall and Emily cringed at the coral pink color. "Don't worry about the color, it's supposed to be lavender, but they're on back order." Michael said, chuckling at the look of relief that crossed over her face.

"Oh good, thank you," Emily smiled as Michael handed her the dress. Their hands brushed slightly and her face flushed for some unknown reason.

Emily stepped into the changing room and looked around, it was rather simple with a bench on the left, a mirror on the front wall and the right walk. There was a hook on the left and Emily hung the dress there as she slid out of her normal clothes. Shockingly, as Emily is the most forgetful person, she remembered to wear a strapless bra for trying on the dress. She only realized after pulling on the long, flowing dress that she wouldn't be able to zip it up herself. "Gosh darn it.." she mumbled as she tried to zip it herself, but was unable to do so.

"Everything all right in there?" Michael asked curiously upon hearing the sudden mumbling and shuffling.

"Umm not really.." Emily trailed off in a small voice. She was really embarrassed about the fact that she would need his help.

"Do you need a different size or something?" Michael asked confused, normally the people trying on dresses come in a group so he doesn't see what the issue could be.

"I uh need help with the uh zipping on the dress, I'm sorry you don't have to I'll just um figure it-" Emily rambled on, extremely embarrassed that she was asking Michael's help.

"It's fine, that's what I'm here for is to help. Do you mind if I just um open the door?" Michael continues awkwardly.

"Yeah, yeah, here," Emily said quietly holding the front of the dress up with one hand and reaching to open the door with the other.

After letting Michael in, she turned to face the mirror. Michael sucked in a breathe at how stunning the dress looked on her. He'd seen the whole group of bridesmaids in this same dress but none of them looked so good. Michael's hands were cold on Emily's back as he fumbled with the zipper. "Sorry love," he muttered as he noticed her shiver. Emily blushed at his use of the word love, then looked up at herself in the mirror. She bit her lip while scrutinizing her reflection. Not that she really had a say as its Anna's wedding, but she didn't think the dress did anything for her. She wasn't exactly a twig and it was kinda obvious in the dress. It minimized her chest and maximized her waist in her opinion, but Michael had completely different thoughts. He couldn't believe his eyes at how gorgeous this random girl fidgeting and pulling at the dress looked. Sure the color washed her light skin and light brown hair out a little, but she looked amazing. He noticed the skeptical look on her face and turned her away from the mirror, placing his hands on her shoulders. Emily looked down, trying to avoid his gaze.

"Emily, Em, can I call you Em? I'm gonna call you Em. You look stunning okay? Like you look really, really good. Like extremely go-" Michael was cut off by Emily pulling back and coughing.

"I'm s-' she tried to say between coughs, "orry," she finished between more coughs.

"Are you okay," Michael said eyes widening, he moved to rub Emily's back as her coughs get worse.

"Yeah, yeah," the coughing fit was finally starting to subside, "I'm good, I'm good." Emily wiped her eyes that had begun to water. "I've been sick, my fever just broke last night so I'm not contagious, but I told Anna I wasn't up for this, I'm really sorry for uh that."

Michael chuckles a bit and awkwardly steps away from where he was rubbing her back. "It's okay really. I get off in like," he glances at his phone in his pocket, "15 minutes. Do you maybe umm want to go get some tea? It might help your throat..." Michael trailed off. "I mean if you're up for it I know you're sick."

"I'd love that Michael," Emily smiled, "but could you um help me out of the dress first."
