ONEW'S POV

I knew this would happen. I ignored this little possibility that one of the band members will find out because of my clumsiness. >.<"

Checking my phone, I looked through the past calls to make sure that I did pocket dial Yoohee that day. The presence of her contact name made me feel like I wanted to break into pieces.

"It's now or never, Jinki." I thought to myself.

-

As usual, the band gathers at our table during lunch. Taeyeon's there, too.

"Hey guys, where's Yoohee?" as if I cursed, Jonghyun glares at me.

"Oh yeah. Hey Taemin, aren't you classmates with Yoohee during first period?" - Key

"I saw her during class today, but not after first period. She just disappeared." Taemin shrugged.

Where is she?

"I'll go look for her." Jonghyun said. Before he could stand, I stopped him.

"No." Then I ran off

I looked everywhere - her classrooms, the library, even the faculty room thinking that she'll be there to attend to her duties as school president – but there was not a single trace of her. I was about to go back to the cafeteria when I passed by the field.

Yoohee's there. She's sitting on one of the bleachers at the left side of the soccer field, her head facing the sky whilst eyes closed as she enjoys the little pleasures of silence.

I started walking towards her – half-excited to see her, half-nervous of her reactions. I didn't know what I was doing, it did not cross my mind that what I'm about to say to her is going to change our friendship – everything.

"I didn't know you like it here." I said. She looked flinched for a moment but easily regained her composure. I just sat there beside her, watched her as she meditated. Yoohee looked so peaceful. It's unfair how she still looked beautiful despite all her duties here at school. People should really give her credit for that.

"Yoohee, listen..."

"About what you heard, it's true. I do like you. I know you're still a bit shocked about what you knew – and how you knew which by the way is a little dumb, I know – but I just want to clear everything out for you. I understand that you are having a hard time wrapping your head around it and that is why I wanted to let you know that I won't do anything unless you want me to. You are one of my closest friends, Yoohee. This friendship is waaay more important than what I feel about you."

Yoohee did not say a word... for quite some time.

"Please say something. Anything."

"I'm sorry." She said as she opened her eyes and shifted to face me.

"You are one of my closest friends, too. I've been with you since you all got together and decided to form a band. We've been there for each other for almost 7 years. I mean, 7 years is not that easy to throw away. I just want us to stay like this. Please."

What's strange about this is that I don't feel hurt at all. Well, sure there's got to be a little sting but it doesn't hurt that much. Maybe because I have always known that we're not going to be more than friends and it stays that way.

"Can I...?" before finishing my sentence, she immediately hugged me and I followed suit.

"Don't be sorry, okay? Like I told you, I'm not gonna do anything unless you want me to. And besides, it's probably better this way. It's no big deal, right?" she just nodded and mumbled 'I'm sorry's' on my chest. I kissed her forehead to reassure her everything's fine.

"How about we grab that lunch?"
