Chapter 3

Robert pov

I never stop thinking about her since I met her yesterday. Giving her a book is an excused so that I could see her again.

I heard someone knocking at the door. I opened it and saw my sister standing in front of my bedroom.

"Mom asks you to go downstairs. Dinner is ready," said Bella.

My parents never hiring a servant to work for us. My mom prepares our meal every day by herself. Our family different from other Oracle's family. My dad was a calm person. He hates arguing. My mom kindhearted person. My sister, Bella is in high school. She is a friendly.

"I'm afraid that the organization will send a spy to Orges sites. They said that Orges community plan something to fight the organization. Last night they arrested a guy from Orges,"
My dad always tells us what happened in the organization.

"So, what happen to that guy?" Mom asked.
"They locked him up. They forced him to tell the truth," Dad answered.
"They only want to steal a book. I don't think they want to fight the organization," I looked my dad.

As usual, my dad give a calm and steady expression. He nodded.
"Yes, son. But the leader really hates those people. We don't have any choice,"
"I heard before the war, government ruled. But when human were divided, they executed the main leader and expelled his family. That is why Orges exist," Bella said to us.
"It is true. But, you need to keep this down Bella," dad glanced at Bella.
"So we are the real thief huh? Our leader keep telling us a lie?" I smirked.

I don't believe what Bella told us just now. Dad seems to know the truth. But he didn't bring it up because he wanted to protect his family.

I lay down on the bed. I closed my eyes. I saw Anna smiling at me. I began to miss her. Maybe I should stay there for a while. I looked up my calender. My semester break begin next week.

Anna pov

I heard a woman cried. They said her husband had been taken by Oracle. I know what she feels. My heart broken when I heard they had lost my dad in the storm a few years ago.

"Did you hear? Her husband was arrested by Oracle," Katy whispered.
"When that happened?" I asked.
"Last night. I heard her son need a medicine. So her husband joins the team to sneak into Oracle," Katy answered.
"Poor little boy," I sighed.
"Her son accidentally cuts his leg while helping her mother harvesting the wheat," Katy explained.
"Why no one helping her?" I can't control my anger.
"Because they want to save their medicines for their own too...damn it Anna. Could you calm down?"Katy whispered.

I run toward my house. I opened a box that we used to put our medicine. I take some medicine and go back and see if the woman still there.

The woman still there. Crying alone. No one cares about her. I grabbed her hand. I put the medicine in her hand. She grabbed the medicine and looked up. She stops crying.
"Please, used this to treat your son,"
She smiled in tear. She grabbed my hand.
"Thank you so much! Thank you so much,"
She left with the medicine. I saw her gone and hoping that her son could be treated with the medicine i gave her.

I feel someone had been watching me. I looked around and saw Robert. He threw me a charming smile.
"How long you had been standing there?" I asked.
"Since you arrived and give the woman your medicine?"he answered.
"I'm just helping her," I sighed.
"I love the way you treat the woman, Anna," he smiled. Our eyes meet. His smile makes my heart beating fast.
Katy chuckled. I stopped looking at him. I forgot that Katy is still there watching us.
"I guess this is the good-looking guy you had been talking about, Anna," Katy teased me.
"Shut up, Katy,"
Holy crap. That was an embarrassed moment I had for the whole of my life. I heard Robert chuckled, looking at my blushing face.

"What are you doing here Robert?" I asked.
"I worked here," he answered.
"Worked here?you mean the corn field?" I gazed him.
"Yeah. I changed my work," he smiled.
I saw Katy smiling at me.
"Sorry, this is my best friend, Katy. Katy, this is Robert," I introduced Katy to Robert.

Robert pov

I helped them to harvest the corn. We put the corn inside the warehouse to give it to each family. I saw Anna helping her mother. I really loved her kindness. Pure beauty of heart.

The sun is going down. All the workers already back home, including Anna and her mother. Meanwhile, I'm staying at the warehouse.

I opened my phone. I already told my parents that I'm going to spend my holiday with Billy at his villa. I lied so that they would never ask where am I. Suddenly I heard footsteps coming towards me. I hide my smartphone. I looked where the sounds coming.

"Hey, it's me," Anna appeared.
She wears her white nightgown. "My mom told me that you are sleeping here,"

She gives me a food. It is smell good. I forgot that I haven't eaten since I reached here.
"You worked very hard just now. I am really sure you hungry,"
"I'd never expected you will come down here to send me this," I smiled.

I eat the food. She only stares at me.
"You cook this?" I asked.
"Yeah," she answered.

She sits next to me. I finished my food. We remained silent for a while.
"You live with your mom?" I started a conversation.
"Yes. It had been a few years since my dad gone," she answered.
"What happen?"
"He is one of the team that sneaked into the city to take some medicine for us. But that night, a storm hit them on the way back here. I don't know what exactly happened that night. All I know is, they told me that they lose my dad that night,"
Tears coming down her cheek. I'm wiping my thumb across her cheek. She closed her eyes. She tried to hold in her tears from falling again. "Hey it's okay," I cupped her small faced with my hand. She opened her eyes.
"What about you, Robert?" She asked.
My mouth shut. I keep silent. I can't hold this lie anymore.
"Look...I am not what you think, Anna," I grabbed her small hand. She looked at me through the eyes.
"What do you mean?"

Before I could finish my words, we heard someone screaming.
"What happened?" Anna asked. I saw her face worried.
"Please, stay here. Don't make any noise," I slowly walk out the warehouse.

I saw a guard holding their guns and forcing every family to go out of their house. It is Oragon. Maybe they had been ordered by our leader to threaten the Orges. I saw Anna's mom had been taken away by the guard. Other people too.

I wondered where they want to bring them. I turn back to Anna. She still sits there and have no idea what just happened. We heard a footstep coming towards the warehouse.

I pushed her into the ground and shut her mouth warning her to remain silent.

"It is just a warehouse, sir," said the voice.
"Let's search at another place," another voice commanded.

When I heard the footsteps began fading out, I released her. I grabbed her on both of her shoulders.
"We need to go away from here, Anna. This place is no longer safe," I convinced her.
"What happened Robert? what do you mean not safe? What about my mom?"
"Listen..your mom had been taken away too Anna,"
"What?!"
"Calm down, Anna. We will think another way to save your mom. But first, we need to get out from here,"
