Jongin was already outside the school gate waiting for Yeonhee as he was leaning against his Hyundai Grandeur car. From afar, he already spotted her rushing towards the gate to find him with a car that she never knew he had one.
"I never knew you had a car?" Yeonhee questioned as she reached the destination and came face to face with Jongin. True, she never knew Jongin actually owned a car and looked elegant as he can be right now as if he came from a wealthy family.
"Surprised?" he asked quietly. Yeonhee nodded and in her mind, there are a lot of things I don't know about him she thought sadly. It's been almost a year since they started dating, but Jongin had kept his information about his family and where he came from. She just knows he lives alone and nothing more. She didn't even know where he lives because everytime she would ask about his family or whatsoever, he would just ignore it and only smile. She then never asked about it because she would just receive the same answer all over again.Jongin opened the car door for her and slipped in and she looked at it with every appearance of interest. The car was too clean and it smelled like a glacé kind of perfume; she half smiled realizing that this is definitely his.
As they were driving down the boulevard, something was definitely wrong. "Ya!" she punched him in his arm. He flinched at the sudden attack, but he kept his eyes on the road "Wae Wae Wae!" he panicked.
"Do you even have a license you punk?!" she half shouted. Jongin swallowed hard but kept himself composed. "O-of course" he stammered and avoided her death glare beside him.
"JONGIN" she warned, the savagery of her voice frightened him. "Have you lost your mind?! Driving without a license?! At night?! Can you even drive?? AT NIGHT?! DO YOU HEAR ME?!" she protested, she was enraged at the moment. While her blood was boiling, she heard a soft laugh coming from beside her and it boiled her blood even more, "Why are you laughing at me?!"
"Hey! Chill!" he snickered at her, "I'm just joking! do you even realize I'm already of legal age and I can get myself a license?" the car came into a halt as the red light appeared. Jongin was shaking his head while laughing as he reached for his wallet and took out his driving license, her mind went black as her mouth showed a Cheshire cat sized smile. "You should have said it earlier so I could prevent myself from doing anything humiliating." She turned her face away and hid behind her hair feeling a lot embarrassed. Jongin only laughed and started the car as the green light appeared.
She opened the window and leaned on the window frame. She felt her long smooth hair blow behind her and the air rush into her. She took the opportunity to be mesmerized by the city. She saw a lot of people rushing home from a busy day, couples walking hand by hand along the streets, children playing, people walking alone—people have a lot of stories to tell she thought. The sky has turned dark; few stars have appeared, "Jongin-" she said softly, sleepily. "Where are we going?"
"Han River," he said through his teeth as he just kept his eyes on the road- driving carefully. From the word Han River, she sat up straight, almost awake. "Really?! I love Han River!" "I know you'll love it there." he smiled. It made his heart flutter just hearing her excited voice, and he just knew it will be worth it.
Jongin parked the car a few feet away from the actual place. He opened the door for her, "I forgot to bring some food. Sorry" he confessed.
"Well, then." she gave him a laugh. "We're screwed."
